Yamaha has been very active in the three-wheeled vehicle market in recent years, from the Tricity family, three-wheeled torque master NIKEN, to the MW-Vision electric three-wheeled concept vehicle exposed at the 2019 Milan Auto Show, and even three-wheeled electric scooters. Tritown, everyone can see that Yamaha is trying its best to promote its own LMW three-wheel mechanism model into the market. Recently, foreign media also exposed a new set of patents, indicating that Yamaha seems to be building a new three-wheel scooter based on the TMAX 560.
Yamaha has previously published a mid-term plan for three-wheeled models from 2019 to 2021. In this planning report, you can see the Tricity 125/155/300, NIKEN, and MW that have already appeared. -Vision, Tritown and a new model that has not yet been exposed. Judging from the patent pictures seen this time, this new model that has not yet been exposed should be a new three-wheeled vehicle based on the TMAX 560.
As can be seen from the patent drawings, the rear half of this brand-new tricycle uses the same frame and engine design as the TMAX 560***, and is equipped with the 562cc, DOHC parallel twin of the TMAX 560 cylinder engine, which can produce a maximum horsepower of 46.9HP.
The front part of the car is quite different from the TMAX 560. It uses Yamaha’s LMW three-wheel suspension mechanism. At the same time, the same “Tilt Lock Assist” as the Tricity 300 can be seen on this TMAX 560-structured tricycle. "Tilt Lock Assist System" means that in a stationary state, the vehicle can be safely parked without the need for center or side supports.
In addition to the locking mechanism, this TMAX 560-structured tricycle also adds a set of electric motors between the front suspension. From the patent drawing, it seems that this motor should provide the vehicle with a stable position when it is tilted. The power assistance allows the rider to drive the vehicle more easily, achieving an effect similar to the power-assisted steering wheel on a car.
Judging from the past trend of Yamaha launching the 3CT concept car in 2018 and then officially releasing the Tricity 300 in 2019, this new three-wheeled vehicle with TMAX 560 architecture should also be released following a similar model. , perhaps we will have the opportunity to take a first look at this three-wheeled concept vehicle built on the TMAX 560 architecture at the end of 2020, and we will have the opportunity to see it officially released in 2021.
