Who invented styrofoam?

Styrofoam The first fully synthetic plastic came from the Belgian-American Leo Hendrick Baekeland. 102 On July 4th, he registered a patent for phenolic plastics.

Baekeland, the son of a shoemaker and a maid, was born in Ghent on 1863. 1884, at the age of 2 1, Baekeland received his doctorate from Ghent university. At the age of 24, he became a professor of physics and chemistry at Bruges Teachers College. 1889 just married the daughter of a university tutor, and Baekeland won a travel scholarship to go to the United States to engage in chemical research.

Encouraged by Professor Columbia University, Baekeland stayed in the United States and worked for a photography supplier. This led him to invent Velox photographic paper a few years later, which can be developed in light, not in the sun. 1893, Baekeland resigned and established Nepera chemical company.

Precautions for styrofoam:

1. Foaming adhesive is a kind of moisture-cured foam. When in use, it should be sprayed on a wet surface. The higher the humidity, the faster the curing. The uncured foam can be cleaned with cleaning agent, while the cured foam should be removed mechanically. The cured foam will turn yellow after being irradiated by ultraviolet rays. It is suggested to coat the surface of cured foam with other materials. Please clean the spray gun with special cleaning agent immediately after use.

2. When replacing the tank, shake the new tank evenly (at least 20 times), unload the empty tank, and quickly replace the new tank to prevent the spray gun nozzle from solidification.

3. The flow control valve and trigger of the spray gun can control the foam flow. When the injection stops, close the flow valve clockwise.
