Beijing, June 13 (Yu Jianbin Qiu) The reporter learned from the National Defense Science and Technology Bureau that the 120-ton liquid oxygen kerosene high-pressure afterburner engine with the largest thrust in China has been successfully developed recently, becoming the second country to master the core technology of this rocket engine after Russia. This type of engine will be used as the power system of a new generation of launch vehicles in China, providing a strong guarantee for major national special tasks such as manned space flight and lunar exploration.
According to reports, the project was approved by the State Council in September 2000, with the goal of developing a 120-ton liquid oxygen kerosene engine that can meet the development needs of the next generation of launch vehicles. Led by the National Defense Science and Technology Bureau (formerly the Commission of Science, Technology and Industry for National Defense), it was developed by the Aerospace Propulsion Technology Research Institute affiliated to Aerospace Science and Technology Corporation. This type of engine is the first high-pressure afterburner cycle engine with independent intellectual property rights in China, which has the characteristics of high performance, high reliability, non-toxicity and no pollution.
According to reports, the successful development of this type of engine has filled the technical gap of China's high-pressure afterburner cycle engine, shortened the gap between China's liquid rocket engine technology and foreign countries, and laid a technical foundation for China's future space power system development. This type of engine engineering has broken through more than 70 key technologies in design, manufacturing and testing, and obtained nearly 20 national defense scientific and technological achievements and related patents. Nearly 50 kinds of new materials needed for the development of this type of engine have promoted the development of basic technologies in related fields and played a leading role in improving the level of related industries in China.
