Legal Basis
Article 31 of the "Law of the People's Republic of China and the State Lawyers"
When a lawyer serves as a defender, he shall act on the basis of facts and law. Provide materials and opinions on whether criminal suspects and defendants are innocent, have minor crimes, or reduce or exempt criminal liability, and safeguard the litigation rights and other legitimate rights and interests of criminal suspects and defendants.
Article 33
A lawyer serving as a defender has the right to hold a lawyer's practicing certificate, a law firm certificate and a power of attorney, and an official legal aid letter to meet with the defendant in accordance with the provisions of the Criminal Procedure Law.
