The essence of lawyer's letter and lawyer's statement is the legal act of entrusting an agent to express his or her will. A lawyer's letter is aimed at a specific party, and a lawyer's statement is a call to all relevant public. More often, hot celebrities and other parties make statements to the public, which have no legal effect. In fact, a lawyer's letter usually sorts out and clarifies relevant events, behaviors and legal relationships, and to a certain extent has the legal effect of binding the client and warning the recipient of the lawyer's letter.
However, the lawyer's letter has not undergone strict judicial review procedures and does not have the res judicata and enforceability of an effective judgment of the People's Court. Recently, there have been many cases in which celebrities issued lawyer's letters or lawyer's statements through lawyers, which has indeed affected the public's judgment and suspicion. But according to the law, it cannot simply be regarded as abuse. For certain groups of people who lack legal awareness, the lawyer's statement is essentially a warning.
