The Royal Lawyer is a thrilling new drama produced by BBC, which tells the story of life, love and lawyers facing difficult criminal cases. It was written by Peter Moffat, a screenwriter who won the BAFTA Award (Justice and North Square). Martha Costello, played by maxine peake, is about 35 years old, single and full of passion. She is a defense lawyer and applies to become a royal lawyer. Martha is faced with challenging cases and unexpected clients. In this series of cases, her judicial beliefs, prejudice, conscience and her beliefs are all being tested to the limit.

It contains all the stories about great pressure, difficult choices, ethical dilemmas, the huge gap between personal feelings and professionalism, the persistence of fighting principles, the belief of sacrifice, politics full of politics, sex, alcoholism and so on-court life may be the most abundant field for shooting TV. "Clive Reid is played by Rupert Penry-Jones this time. He is an interesting, talented but dangerous man. He is the same age as Martha, and they were summoned to appear in court together.
