However, after renting a car, the renter neither returned the car nor paid the rent, so he could not be contacted. The leasing company suspected that it was defrauded by the contract and called the police for help.
Xiangshan Branch immediately dispatched elite police to set up a task force. Through the clues provided by the leasing company and the police investigation, the police quickly grasped the identity of the suspects Zhao and Liang. Through further investigation, it was found that the suspect was hiding in Dongguan, Guangdong Province after committing the crime.
At noon on May 22, the police of the task force quickly rushed to Dongguan to arrest the suspects with the cooperation of the local police. Just as the police of the task force rushed to Dongguan to prepare for the arrest, they received the latest clue: the suspect had left Dongguan with the vehicle, got on the expressway and fled in the direction of Guangxi. The police quickly turned around and chased the suspect's vehicle.
The sky gradually darkened, and the police of the task force repeatedly checked on the expressway and finally locked the target. The vehicle the suspect was driving was a black car. On the same day 19, just as the suspect drove the vehicle to slow down and entered a gas station in a service area, the police who had already been stationed here immediately formed a siege. Before Zhao and Liang could react, they were controlled by the police and surrendered themselves. At this point, after seven hours of hunting, it finally came to an end.
After investigation, the suspects Zhao and Liang owed a lot of debts due to gambling. The insolvent two lied that they needed to use brand cars in batches to run their business and signed a lease contract with a car rental company. At first, the suspects Zhao and Liang paid part of the rent in advance on schedule. After gaining initial trust, from March to May, 2022, they rented 33 brand cars or off-road vehicles, but then they defaulted on the rent or even lost contact under various excuses. They have sold 33 rented brand cars at low prices, and paid off debts to third parties, making a profit of RMB 1 10,000 yuan, all of which were squandered by them for gambling and living expenses.
In order to recover the economic losses of enterprises to the maximum extent, the task force conducted investigation and evidence collection on a vehicle-by-vehicle basis by analyzing and judging vehicle information, and successively moved to Liuzhou City, Laibin City, Yangshuo County, and Pingle County, Guangxi, and recovered 22 vehicles involved, and another 6 vehicles were temporarily detained by foreign public security organs.
At present, the suspect has been taken criminal compulsory measures by Xiangshan Branch of Guilin Public Security Bureau, and the case is under further investigation.
