On June 16, Deng Yujiao was in court. The much-watched "case of Deng Yujiao stabbing an official" ended in the first instance of Badong County Court in Hubei Province today. The court ruled that Deng Yujiao's behavior constituted the crime of intentional injury, but it was excessive defense, and Deng Yujiao limited his criminal responsibility and had the plot of surrender, so he was exempted from punishment.

Badong County People's Court found through trial that on the evening of May 10, 2009, Deng and others went to the Dream Entertainment City of Yesanguan Town Hotel in the county for fun after drinking. Huang Dezhi forced Deng Yujiao, a hotel waitress, to accompany her to take a bath, but she was refused. Deng, extremely dissatisfied, pestered and abused. Persuaded by the waiter Luo and others, he tried to leave the room twice, but was stopped by Deng and pushed to sit on the single person sofa behind him. When Deng approached again, the man pushed on single person sofa took out a fruit knife from his carry-on bag, got up and stabbed Deng, causing injuries to his left neck, left forearm, right chest and right shoulder. Huang Dezhi, who had been at the scene, stepped forward to stop Deng Yujiao, but was stabbed and injured his right elbow. Deng died after being rescued because of his injuries. Huang Dezhi's injury was identified as minor.
Badong County People's Court held that the counterattack was defensive in nature, but in the case of Deng Yu's unreasonable entanglement, dragging and insulting, it exceeded the necessary limit and belonged to excessive defense. Defendant Deng Yujiao intentionally injured and caused death, and his behavior has constituted the crime of intentional injury. After the incident, Deng Yujiao voluntarily surrendered to the public security organs and truthfully confessed the crime, which constituted surrender. After forensic identification, Deng Yujiao is a mood disorder (bipolar) and belongs to partial (limited) criminal responsibility. Accordingly, Deng Yujiao was exempted from criminal punishment according to law.
It is reported that Huang Dezhi has been detained by public security organs before; "Dream Entertainment City" has been sealed up according to law, and its relevant responsible persons are being investigated and dealt with according to law.
