1. Know relevant laws and regulations: You need to know relevant laws, regulations and precedents to determine your rights and responsibilities and respond to the other party's requirements reasonably.

The penalties for drunk driving are as follows:
1, driving after drinking, the motor vehicle driver's license shall be revoked, and it is forbidden to obtain a motor vehicle driver's license again for life;
2, causing traffic accidents, which constitute a crime, shall be investigated for criminal responsibility according to law;
3. If there is no traffic accident, but the blood alcohol content reaches the standard of criminal offence, criminal responsibility shall be investigated according to law;
4. If there is no traffic accident, but the alcohol content in the blood reaches the standard of administrative punishment, the motor vehicle driver's license shall be revoked according to law and the time limit for regaining the motor vehicle driver's license shall be limited;
5. If the alcohol content in the blood does not reach the standard of administrative punishment, administrative punishment such as fine, temporary suspension of motor vehicle driving license or detention may be imposed.
To sum up, drunk driving is a serious traffic violation, which will not only cause serious harm to life and property of yourself and others, but also bear corresponding legal responsibilities and compensation responsibilities. Therefore, we should develop good traffic safety awareness and behavior habits at ordinary times to avoid illegal behaviors such as drunk driving.
Legal basis:
Article 22 of the Regulations of People's Republic of China (PRC) Municipality on Compulsory Liability Insurance for Motor Vehicle Traffic Accidents.
Under any of the following circumstances, the insurance company shall pay the rescue expenses in advance within the liability limit of compulsory motor vehicle traffic accident liability insurance, and have the right to recover from the victims:
(a) the driver has not obtained the driving qualification or is drunk;
(2) The insured motor vehicle was stolen during the accident;
(3) The insured intentionally creates a road traffic accident.
Under any of the circumstances listed in the preceding paragraph, if a road traffic accident occurs and property losses are caused to the victim, the insurance company shall not be liable for compensation.
