(1) Subject conditions. According to Article 48 of the Prison Law of the People's Republic of China, only relatives and guardians of criminals can exercise the right to visit prisoners. But now a common practice across the country is that friends of criminals can also visit prisons, because visiting prisons can bring corresponding economic benefits to the prisons.
(2)Certificate conditions. When visiting the prison, the prison requires the following documents:
(1. Identity documents (including ID card, temporary ID card, household register, household registration certificate, military officer ID, soldier ID, etc.),
(2) Relevant certificates issued by local street offices, neighborhood committees, and village committees. The current common practice is that the second certificate is not required.
This condition stipulates that. Prison visits can only be made on designated visiting days. However, the current practice is that visits can be made at other times except legal holidays. After the judgment takes effect, family members can apply to visit.
Note: Prison visits are not limited to relatives. Friends or other people can also meet after the application is approved. Unconvicted prisoners in the detention center are not allowed to visit, nor are they allowed to meet anyone except lawyers.
