Legal analysis: Lawyers cannot defend the same criminal more than twice. Staff of the People's Court, People's Procuratorate, public security organs, national security organs, prison inmates, people's assessors, foreigners or persons without Nationalities and persons with an interest in the case are not allowed to serve as defenders. One defender can only defend one client.
Legal basis: Article 55*** of the Criminal Procedure Law of the People's Republic of China and the "State Sentencing of the People's Republic of China". For all cases, emphasis should be placed on evidence, investigation and research, and confessions should not be taken lightly. If there is only the defendant's confession and no other evidence, the defendant cannot be found guilty and punished; if there is no defendant's confession and the evidence is reliable and sufficient, the defendant can be found guilty and punished. The evidence is reliable and sufficient and must meet the following conditions:
(1) The facts of conviction and sentencing are supported by evidence;
(2) The evidence on which the case is decided is verified to be true through legal procedures;
(3) The evidence in the entire case is reliable and sufficient, and the identified facts have been beyond reasonable doubt.
