Starting with the production of jeans
The legendary Ba Shu was born in the mainland and received primary education. 14 years old settled in Hong Kong, 1976 years old worked as a garment worker. He made his first fortune by producing his own brand Abba jeans and exporting them to America. Ba Shu took the opportunity to set foot in catering, real estate, tourism and entertainment, and finally became the major shareholder and chairman of the listed company Zhongke Environmental Protection.
In 2002, Ba Shu opened Yabo Entertainment Group Co., Ltd., explored new people, signed artists such as Hong Tianming and Wang Xi, and held concerts for mainland singers and Xingma with his connections in the Mainland, so he was awarded the title of "Father of Concerts in the Mainland". The singers he has worked with include Kelly Chen, Dawn, Aaron Kwok and Samuel Hui. Ba Shu also invested in many Hong Kong films, such as Superman, Dragon Series, I Want to Be a Model and Kill the Wolf, all of which were shot in Paco Wong Pak Go.
From 2004 to 2005, he conspired with former senior executives of Zhongke Environmental Protection to misappropriate the funds of two listed companies, Zhongke Environmental Protection and China Environmental Protection Power (now known as China Fuqiang Group), and then forged accounts to cover up the stolen funds, involving a total amount of HK$ 72 million. In 2006, Chen confessed to six counts of money laundering, conspiracy to steal and conspiracy to defraud, and then 64-year-old Uncle Ba became a tainted witness. This case has been troubled for many years, during which Ba Shu filed for bankruptcy and received psychotherapy for depression. The day before yesterday, the defense submitted 17 pleading letters to the court, including Andy Lau, Tianwang, Samuel Hui, director Xu Xiaoming, Dong Shengyi and so on. Chen's senior barrister summed up the contents of the pleading letters and pointed out that many letters have only one theme, that is, praising Ba Shu's generosity and helping others, "so he got the nickname of Wong Tai Sin". Finally, Ba Shu was sentenced to three years' imprisonment and banned from being a company director for eight years.
Fraud of HK$ 63 million was prosecuted by ICAC.
Hong Kong, July 1 1 (Reporter) On July 1 1, it was reported that Chen, the former chairman of Zhongke Environmental Protection, a listed company in Hong Kong, was detained by the Independent Commission Against Corruption for misappropriating and defrauding funds from Zhongke Environmental Protection and another listed company, China Environmental Protection, exceeding HK$ 63 million. On the same day, the defendant was sentenced to three years' imprisonment at the Hong Kong Court of Law.
Chen, 64, was the chairman of Zhongke Environmental Protection Power Co., Ltd. and the executive director of China Environmental Protection Power Holding Co., Ltd. He was also banned from being a company director for eight years.
Judge Chen Guangchi said in sentencing that the case involved using a large number of false documents to cover up crimes and misappropriating company funds, which harmed the interests of the two companies and their shareholders. The starting point of sentencing for Chen's crimes was seven years' imprisonment, but considering that Chen admitted the charges and cooperated with other defendants to testify in court, his sentence was reduced to three years.
It is reported that Chen pleaded guilty to six charges in 2006, including three counts of conspiracy to defraud, one count of theft and one count of conspiracy to steal. He later testified as a prosecution witness.
The other three defendants in the same case include Han Mingguang, former chairman of China Environmental Protection, and Zou, former executive director and chief financial officer of Zhongke Environmental Protection. The three defendants will be sentenced on 12.
Gaoming Business Network News: On July 13, it was reported that Andy Lau and Samuel Hui were writing letters of intercession for a fraudster at the same time. This person is known as "the father of mainland concerts" and "Uncle Ba" Chen.
Pleadings are an important part of criminal proceedings in Hong Kong.
According to the laws of Hong Kong, "pleadings" are an indispensable part of criminal proceedings. Under the "context" of Hong Kong law, "pleading" is just "asking for a lighter sentence". In 2006, more than 200 people, including Jackie Chan, wrote a pleading letter for Mao Yuping, the wife of Shanghai tycoon Zhou Zhengyi.
Hong Kong entertainment circle supports Ba Shu.
Andy Lau: I have known Chen for 10 years. Although we have never cooperated in our work, personally, I notice that he is very helpful. In 2006, he became quite thin, taciturn and old. He is obviously very anxious. He repented and confessed. His reputation, business and credit have all been damaged. I hope the judge will be lenient.
Samuel Hui: After co-hosting 38 concerts in 2004, I found him trustworthy. He is kind and keeps his promise. During my years working in Hong Kong, I have rarely seen such humble, diligent and helpful investors. I think this is because a responsible person is willing to face the consequences of his mistakes.
