1. A judge who leaves office may not serve as an agent ad litem or defender in the original court for life;
2. A judge shall not act as an agent ad litem or defender in any court as a lawyer within two years after leaving office. It is not excluded that he acts as an agent ad litem or defender in a court other than the court of first instance as a non-lawyer;
3. After resigning from public office, Judge the Supreme People's Court and judges at or above the division level are limited to three years, while others are two years. It is forbidden for resignees to be employed by law firms during the restricted period;
4. After resigning from public office, judges and trial assistants shall not serve as agents ad litem or defenders in the trial of cases in the court of first instance for life, except as guardians or close relatives of the parties;
5. A judge's spouse or children may not act as agents ad litem or defenders in the court where they are located.
Legal basis: Article 35 of the Judges Law of People's Republic of China (PRC).
When a judge resigns, he shall be relieved of his post in accordance with the procedures prescribed by law.
The removal of a judge shall be decided in accordance with the management authority. The dismissal decision shall be notified in writing to the dismissed judge, and the reasons and basis for the decision shall be explained.

Lawyers who have served as judges and prosecutors shall not serve as agents ad litem or defenders within two years after leaving the people's courts and people's procuratorates.
