Putuo Mountain is located in Putuo District, Zhoushan City, Zhejiang Province. The southern edge of Hangzhou Bay, in the eastern waters of Zhoushan Archipelago, is known as the four famous Buddhist mountains in China together with Wutai Mountain in Shanxi, Emei Mountain in Sichuan and Jiuhua Mountain in Anhui. Because it is surrounded by the sea, beautiful scenery and unique illusion, it is known as "the first pure land on earth".
Putuo Mountain is a small island in Zhoushan Archipelago 1390 islands. It looks like a black dragon lying in the sea, with an area of 12.52 square kilometers. Across the sea from shenjiamen in Zhoushan Archipelago, it is known as the "Buddha Country at Sea" and "Holy Land of the South China Sea". It is 8.6 kilometers long from north to south, 3.5 kilometers wide from east to west, and the coastline is 30 kilometers long.
It accounts for 2% of the island area, and the rest is hilly land below 200 meters above sea level. Hard granite weathered and eroded in the long geological age, joints developed along the vertical high angle, and the surrounding mountains collapsed, forming many isolated peaks and abrupt landscapes.
Precautions:
Foding Mountain in the middle of Putuo Mountain has the highest skylight, with an altitude of 29 1.2 meters, extending in all directions. There are Chashan Mountain in the west, Longfu Mountain in the north, Qinggulei Mountain in the east, Jinping Mountain, Liantai Mountain and Baihua Mountain in the southeast, and Meicen Mountain in the southwest. The main peaks are all between 100 and 200 meters, continuously fluctuating. The main scenic spots of Putuo Mountain are Fusaiji (Qiansi), Fayu Temple (Housi) and Huiji Temple (Foding Mountain Temple), which are also called the three major temples of Putuo Mountain, forming the Guanyin Dojo of Putuo Mountain.
