1. Take the lead in compiling the education development plan and implement the work of promoting the balanced development of compulsory education;
2 responsible for the administrative management of primary and secondary schools, special education and preschool education in the whole region, the adjustment of school layout structure, the establishment of primary and secondary schools and kindergartens, and the examination and approval of merger. Standardize the school-running behavior of all kinds of schools;
3. Responsible for moral education in primary and secondary schools, the work of the Young Pioneers, the work of the Communist Youth League, popular science education for young people and the construction of parents' schools;
4. Responsible for school physical education, health education, art education, population education, national defense education, environmental education, legal education, safety education, ethnic education, campus culture construction and "singing, reading, speaking and passing on books" in the whole region;
5. Be responsible for the curriculum of primary and secondary schools in the whole region, and the review and subscription of teaching books for primary and secondary schools. Take the lead in the reform of basic education curriculum;
6. Responsible for the management of primary and secondary school students in the whole region, organize graduation examinations (assessment) for primary, middle and high schools in the whole region, and issue graduation certificates for primary and secondary schools;
7. Responsible for the enrollment of junior high schools and senior high schools in the whole region;
8. Promote the reform of basic education and guide the education and teaching work in the whole region, strengthen the educational and scientific research work in primary and secondary schools in the whole region, and monitor the teaching quality of primary and secondary schools;
9. Cooperate with the personnel department to equip primary and secondary school teachers in the whole region;
