Basic Survey of Southwest Forestry University Library

The library consists of six departments and two rooms, including document editing department, book distribution department, newspaper reading department, network technology department, information department, reader service department, document teaching and research department and library affairs department. There are 54 faculty members, including professor 1 person, associate professor 1 person, associate senior title 1 person, 27 intermediate title, 9 assistant librarians and 6 others.

The library management selects ILASⅱ2.0 library automation integrated system software developed by Shenzhen Ketu Company, and realizes the automatic management of document acquisition, book borrowing and returning, periodical arrival, etc. In February 2009, the library business system was changed to Huiwen document service system. Tsinghua Tongfang Full-text Periodical Mirror Station and the first-class service station of HowNet were established. Data storage and backup adopt mass data network storage (capacity 8.5 T) system. Five main servers provide information services such as library web page information, file upload and download, mail service, Chinese and foreign periodicals retrieval and download, and online book renewal. There are 60 workstations in the library LAN, which are distributed in various reading rooms and studios. The electronic reading room is equipped with 100 PCs for information retrieval and internet access by all teachers and students.

At present, there are over 6,543,800 books and 306,000 e-books. Chinese electronic resources include the full-text database of China sci-tech periodical Tsinghua Tongfang (CNKI), outstanding doctoral and master's degree thesis database of Tsinghua Tongfang, data-sci-tech information subsystem, Dentsu-China legal application system, Jin National Road database, Addison online lecture hall, superstar Chinese e-books and so on. Foreign language electronic resources include internationally renowned academic databases BP, CAB, Agricola Plus Text, Academy Research Library, Golden Earth foreign language e-books, Asian business full-text databases New York Time, USA Today, Barron's, Wall Street Journals, etc. A document guarantee system has been formed, which takes professional documents of forestry science, biological science, wood science, forest engineering, environmental science, horticulture and other disciplines as the main body, taking into account disciplines such as law, management, foreign languages and literature, and art design.

According to the principle of "introducing modern management concepts, adopting advanced management schemes and building a modern humanized library", the library adopts the methods of integrating collection reading, collecting back issues and current issues in the same library, setting up reference books and bibliographic inquiry systems in each library, centralized book return consultation and full open service. The website of the library has a reader's guest book and a curator's mailbox, which can communicate with readers at any time. We will implement the system of staff posting and readers' complaints, and strive to provide quality services for all teachers and students. In 2005, it was rated as the advanced library of Yunnan University by the Library and Information Work Committee of Yunnan University.

The future development direction of the library: giving priority to increasing the total number of paper books and moderately increasing high-quality digital resources to meet the needs of teaching and scientific research; Secondly, strengthen the construction of librarians, increase the proportion of young professional librarians and improve the level of professional services; Third, pay attention to the layout and environmental construction of the library, and strive to create a humanized reading and learning environment that adapts to the modern management mode, which is convenient for readers and constantly improves the service level. Through the main work in the above aspects, the goal of building a modern and humanized library will be gradually realized.
