Teacher Zhang Peng of Shandong Ocean University (Weihai) has a wealth of knowledge about snails. He introduced that the news that snails are poisonous on the internet is suspected of being partial. Not all snails are poisonous. As far as snails in Shandong peninsula are concerned, they are mainly longitudinal ribs, which are basically non-toxic. From the appearance, it can be seen that the local scientific name of Haiguazi in Weihai is not the same as that of net-transmitted poisonous snails. Woven snail is named because its shell grain is perpendicular to the spiral direction and resembles the grain of clothes. Longitudinal rib snail is one of the snails that can be easily distinguished. The longitudinal stripes on its shell will have one or two thick white longitudinal stripes, which can be distinguished at a glance. This snail is usually buried in sediments in shallow waters and mainly feeds on organic debris and algae. After food is ingested, it is stored in the stomach pouch. In fact, snails themselves are not toxic, but if toxic algae and organic debris are ingested, toxins will accumulate in the stomach sac of snails. Therefore, whether the snail is toxic or not is directly related to its "formula" and water quality. The local sea melon seeds have a good quality of life and can be safely eaten. Gao Yonggang, director of Rongcheng Fishery Technology Station, said that snails in Shandong Peninsula mainly feed on benthic algae and are basically non-toxic. The water quality in Weihai has already reached the national first-and second-class aquaculture water quality standards. Snails salvaged from the sea near Weihai can be safely eaten, because the growth environment and food intake determine that it is non-toxic.
