Do I need to provide an ID card to check into the hotel?

Citizens must provide their ID cards when they check into the hotel, and the relevant registration personnel can register only after using the scanning chip data input system of the party's ID card.

In the case of lost identity cards, citizens can go to the nearest police station to apply for a "temporary accommodation certificate" and go through the check-in procedures.

First, the national laws make it clear that you must register your ID card information when staying in a hotel.

Articles 6 and 7 of the Measures for the Administration of Public Security in Hotel Industry (1) stipulate that hotels must register when they receive passengers. At the time of registration, the passenger's identity documents shall be checked, and the registration shall be made truthfully according to the specified items, and the accommodation registration form shall be submitted to the local public security organ within 24 hours.

Hotels should set up safe deposit boxes, lockers or storage rooms, safes and other public facilities for passengers' personal belongings, and establish a system of registration, collection and handover.

2. If your ID card is lost, you can check in with other information.

The "Opinions on Improving and Standardizing the Work of Issuing Certificates by Public Security Police Stations" clearly stipulates that those who are in urgent need of boarding a plane, taking a train, taking a long-distance bus, taking a boat, staying in a hotel or taking a national examination prescribed by law and cannot produce their legal identity documents due to loss, theft, forgetting to carry them, etc., can apply for handling business in temporary id card.

Police stations in airports, railway stations, ports, hotels and police stations in kaoqu should check the identity of the personnel approved by the national population information system and indicate the validity period for temporary boarding by plane, train, coach and ship, staying in hotels and taking exams.

If you need to check in, you can go to the nearest police station to apply for a Temporary Accommodation Certificate.

Hotel check-in clearly requires ID card registration. For the loss of identity cards, there are different policies in different places, and the specific need to consult the local household registration department shall prevail.
