Come to think of it, a glass of wine to release the rights of soldiers is actually a political game between Zhao Kuangyin, Song Taizu and the whole military commander group. Since it is a game, it is naturally impossible for any party to make a profit without paying the price. Obviously, in this political game, the price paid by military commanders is that they have lost their military power since then, and this military power is certainly not lost in vain. What it got was the luxury and enjoyment promised and rewarded by Emperor Jinkou of Zhao Kuangyin. Historically, when Zhao Kuangyin relieved the military power with a glass of wine, he enlightened all military commanders and said: Life is short, and it is fleeting. Instead of accumulating more treasures, it is better to love many people, build a beautiful house on fertile land, and sing and dance in your lifetime. In this way, there is no suspicion between the monarch and the minister, and you can have both. The meaning of that word is obvious. As long as people lay down their arms and stop exercising their military power, which does not pose a threat to their throne in Zhao Kuangyin, then everything else can be said that you can do whatever you want.
It can be seen that Zhao Kuangyin's right to relief is generous, of course, to the country and the nation. In the words of Shi Shouxin in the Song Dynasty, he was very generous, and he offered very generous prices to all military commanders. Looking at the essence through the phenomenon, the so-called lifting of soldiers' drinking, to put it bluntly, is nothing more than Song Taizu and Zhao Kuangyin exchanging corruption for soldiers' rights. In a sense, the right to release soldiers with a glass of wine means that Zhao Kuangyin has issued a corruption license to the entire military commander group. With the protection of the corruption license issued by the emperor himself, the military commanders began to engage in corruption. According to historical records, Mao's military commanders are almost all greedy and lecherous.
Here, we might as well simply list the greed of some famous military commanders in the Taizu period: for example, according to the history books, Shi Shouxin worked hard to save the town, concentrated on collecting money and accumulated huge wealth; Wang Quanbin broke the Shu days, robbed people's children of jade and silk, and soldiers plundered Shu; On the day when Wang Renshan broke Shu, he took a prostitute from Li Tinggui and drove Feng Deku to get Jinbao. Chu Zhaofu is very stingy. He sent thousands of gifts back and forth until he received and raised them. Taste the guests' past, show them in Tibet, and say: I didn't sweat in Ma Lao, but I will take it as an occasion. I will defend my country, and then I will give it to you. It is contemptuous to maintain and publish the good farmland of the city. Cui has repeatedly made meritorious military service, but he is good at accumulating wealth, so he has no good governance. Cao Han took bribes and perverted the law. Zhang Duo's state official is the city horse, and Zhang Duo added it directly in private. He was tired to 1.6 million, and he was good at borrowing more than 1 10,000 public funds, infringing 6,400 official songs. Tian Jingxian was stingy by nature and amassed wealth. Every time he comes to the task, he only puts a meat utensil for the host and guest to eat together. Henry Hui Wang is also stingy and rich, but his wife is poor, her life is full of grievances and the people are miserable. ...
It must be pointed out that some military commanders in Mao Zedong don't really want to be corrupt, at least in the earliest days. But again afraid of being too totally, Zhao Kuangyin was suspected of disobedience, so he had to put on an act and pretend to be very modest and inferior. For example, Shi Shouxin was once a benevolent general. Brave as he is in battle, he always values righteousness over profit. However, after a glass of wine, he suddenly had an epiphany and began to pursue bohemian and crazy wealth. Regarding his performance, Songshi commented, isn't it because those who are ashamed of themselves are evil? ! ; Words very thoroughly, it turned out that his man was a general of the Qin Dynasty, Hong Jian. On his way to destroy Chu, he deliberately polluted himself in order to dispel Qin Shihuang's doubts.
Another military commander, Wang Quanbin, also said in the history books that he had always performed well. He has always been a man who values money over fame, generous and tolerant, and charitable. However, after solving the soldier's worries with a glass of wine, he seems to be a different person. On the day of taking Shu, he took the lead in conniving at his subordinates' wanton search for Shu, violating the contract, killing soldiers and driving without authorization. Obviously, Wang Quanbin's abnormal behavior is also for self-harm. Because in his view, Shu's power is too great, and his prestige has risen to an unbounded level in an instant. At this point, Mao didn't get any reward. If he doesn't come to a self-pollution movement of the same scale, it will not come to a good end, because of his contribution to Gao Zhen.
It can be seen that although these military commanders are born in the military and reckless, they are also politically sensitive and can go straight to the point. It can be seen that these people are definitely not pig brains. If many military commanders were forced to do this because of Mao's inducements, some people were quite ostentatious when they were corrupt, just taking part in accidental amusement and didn't take it seriously. Then over time, due to the common and potential evils in human nature, such as indulgence and pleasure, it became a natural habit and gradually became accustomed to corruption. Because of his pre-announcement, Zhao Kuangyin tried to turn a blind eye to the corruption of military commanders, so as to do what he could not say and what he could do. Sometimes, some military commanders go too far in this respect, and when they have to deal with it, they try to be condescending and show mercy.
For example, it can be proved that there is a military commander named Wang Jixun, the son of our special envoy Wang Rao and the younger brother of Queen Wang. According to the Biography of Wang Jixun in the Song Dynasty, this uncle was cruel, a man-eating king who was greedy for money and fish, and took pleasure in killing handmaiden. One day, the wall of Wang Jixun's mansion collapsed due to heavy rain, and a large number of handmaiden escaped from the cage and went to Song Taizu to complain, exposing all Wang Jixun's appalling crimes. It is said that under the great terror of Song Taizu, Wang Jixun was severely sentenced: taking his official position and returning it to his private house. Let the military guard. Russia is also in the state.
But in the end, it's more thunder than rain. On this side, before his brother-in-law Wang Jixun set foot on the road of exile, on the other side, Zhao Kuangyin has been appointed as the right-leaning deputy supervisor. Wang Jixun was fearless and was appointed as the chief executive of Xijing Luoyang three years after Kaibao. After he came to power, he vented his cruel nature and began to eat people: Qiangmin's children were given to the ambassador, killed if they were dissatisfied, and the coffin bones were abandoned in the wild. As a result, traffickers and coffin shop merchants went in and out of Wang Jixun's mansion day and night, and people were crowded. With the lessons of the last appeal, Luoyang people no longer have hope for the appeal, and learned to resign themselves to fate.
According to statistics, it was not until the reign of Emperor Taizong that Wang Jixun was executed. In the short five years from six years of Kaibao to two years of peaceful revival, Wang Jixun personally killed 100 handmaiden. Such a heinous man-eating demon, if it weren't for Zhao Kuangyin's intentional protection, would never eat people so happily and enjoy himself. Another example is Li Han, the general guarding Guannan, who married a woman who owed money to the people. Song Taizu was also eloquent, trying to protect and pamper the military general. When the relatives of the victims went to Beijing to complain, Song Taizu called them and asked them: Who can your's daughter marry? The party concerned replied: farmers. Ask again: What was the status of Qidan before the Han Dynasty came to Guannan? A: Those years were painful and violent. Ask again: Is there today? Answer: Nothing. Finally, Song Taizu said to the complaining farmers: Han Chao, I am your minister. Isn't it better for you to be a concubine than a peasant woman? If Han Dynasty is not in Guannan, can your family still keep all the goods? After reprimanding the plaintiff, Zhao Kuangyin ordered the plaintiff to be sent back to his hometown. However, I am your minister, and Li Han is super strong. He married my daughter as a concubine and couldn't repay her loan. This is not his responsibility. I called him in and advised him to pay more attention to his influence in the future. Finally, he even gave Li Han an extra 3000 platinum.
In this famous political game and political transaction, Zhao Kuangyin showed great generosity and kindness. In order to appease Shi Shouxin and other military commanders, he not only gave a lot of money, but also made an appointment with a group of military commanders to get married and entered into a political marriage. Soon after drinking poison to quench thirst, Mao broke his word and married his widowed sister Yan Fei to Gao Huaide, and his daughters Princess Yan Qing and Princess Zhaoqing to the sons of Shi Shouxin and Wang Shenqi respectively. Obviously, this kind of marriage has a strong political color, which is a kind of netting, comfort and compensation for the military commanders who lost their military power.
Who knows, Zhao Kuangyin's kindness and cleverness are really effective. Because of Zhao Kuangyin's policy or strategy of exchanging corruption for soldiers, except for the two rebellions launched by Li Jun and Li Zhongjin, the old ministers of the later Zhou Dynasty, there has never been a political event similar to adding yellow robes in the Song Dynasty. However, there are always advantages and disadvantages in the world. We will say later that exchanging corruption for military power is tantamount to self-destruction of the Great Wall and chronic suicide for the Great Song Empire. After careful calculation, people will find that the price is really too high!
Of course, self-pollution behavior is a way for ancient ministers and military commanders to protect themselves, and it is also related to ancient ideology. To some extent, this has nothing to do with Zhao Kuangyin. However, the paradox of history is that when Zhao Kuangyin showed hostility to the minister, the minister felt threatened and began to pollute himself! Zhao Kuangyin's excessive tolerance for them is also considered as an equivalent exchange of power. Perhaps this is a kind of harm of power concentration!
