If this emotional trigger point comes from the counselor's personal topic, then you need to remind yourself to get out of this emotional involvement as soon as possible, safeguard the interests of visitors, and don't let your emotional reaction affect the consultation. These topics need to be dealt with in the personal experience of counselors. Of course, things are always unsatisfactory. Sometimes, due to the personal limitations of consultants, we don't realize that this is our personal topic in consultation. What should we do?
For example, after listening to the interview, the counselor found himself sleepy and yawned, but it was still daytime and he didn't look very tired. This is actually reminding the psychological counselor that some unconscious emotions may be aroused before yawning. Psychological counselors should pay attention to this abnormal behavior and adjust their state, such as drinking water or asking visitors to repeat the previous words. At the same time, we should be aware of this drowsiness in the follow-up consultation process, continue to collect information and find out all possible reasons.
Second, find a suitable time and have some discussions with him.
Think about it. If this reaction is mine, what is the visitor discussing before he feels sleepy? Am I avoiding discussing this part with him? What was the difficult emotional experience and topic? After that, the counselor can discuss this part with his own counselor in his personal experience. If this is not mine, but a visitor's model, what good is it for him to do so? For example, is he keeping his distance from me in this way? Is he protecting his inner emotional experience in this way?
We can think about these problems and understand the interaction in consultation by combining our own emotional experience, assumptions about the problems and the purpose of the visitors' consultation, but we don't have to return them all at the moment of consultation, we can find a suitable opportunity and discuss them with him again.
To sum up briefly, if the counselor has a lot of emotions during the consultation process, the counselor should focus on the interests of the visitors, have some restraint in his own reaction, and must figure out why.
Third, the consultant's growth experience.
Most consultants will improve their professional skills through professional supervision, training and personal experience, so as to improve their professional skills. Therefore, in different situations, they will conduct professional demand analysis according to the problems of different visitors. With the increase of consulting experience, they can handle the friendly consulting relationship with visitors more skillfully and professionally.
