Is there a graduation period limit for applying for a Ph.D. in Hong Kong?

There is no academic year limit for applying for a Ph.D. in Hong Kong, and it is clearly marked in the admissions brochures of all universities: applications are accepted at any time.

General procedures for application:

1. Request an application form or register online:

Generally speaking, as long as you send an email to the admissions office or the department, the relevant forms will be sent to you for easy use.

Universities in Hong Kong will ask you to explain your research intention. Of course, as long as it is very broad, it doesn't need to be very specific.

Materials are generally free. If you feel troublesome, you can register online.

2. Application materials:

1) academic report card: it must be endorsed by the original school.

2) copy of graduation certificate;

3) Education certificate: Master's degree certificate.

4) Letter of recommendation. It must be two letters of recommendation from my graduate school consultant, but it must be from the academic field, and others are not accepted. There are only one or two forms of recommendation letters, not lengthy ones. Its content is an evaluation of your academic ability. In addition, comments and suggestions on your research plan are also required, which can not be ignored. The recommendation letter can be sent directly to the department by the recommender, or sent together with other application materials after being sealed and signed;

5) Copy of ID card or passport or Hong Kong and Macao Pass;

6) Registration fee receipt (online registration and credit card payment are not required);

7) Proof of English proficiency: TOEFL or ETS scores are generally required. If some universities don't even need TOEFL scores, mainland CET-4 and CET-6 certificates are acceptable.

8)GRE scores: With the fierce competition, universities in Hong Kong now require GRE scores. Just like TOEFL, you only need one copy.

9) Other materials required by each department: such as research papers.

3. Research suggestion: Personal statement similar to that required by foreign universities. But this research project is purely academic, and there is no need to add personal experiences and feelings. It requires the applicant to have a clear research plan and grasp it well. This plan must be very specific, not too broad. The research plan generally includes the following points:

(1) topic, that is, the problem you want to solve.

(2) The significance of studying this problem.

(3) The present research situation in the past is a legacy.

(4) Your methodology

(5) Bibliography: This is very important, but it is often ignored.

In addition, the application fee is left. Generally, it costs one or two hundred Hong Kong dollars, which most people can afford.
