Jinan, also known as "Spring City", is the capital of Shandong Province, one of the 15 sub-provincial cities in China, the central city in the southern wing of the Bohai Rim region, and the political, cultural, educational, economic, transportation and scientific and technological center of Shandong Province. The army headquarters in the northern theater of the Chinese People's Liberation Army, the core city of Shandong Peninsula urban agglomeration and Jinan metropolitan area, and the new first-tier city.
Jinan is known as the "Spring City" because there are many springs in China, including "72 springs". Known as "lotus flowers on all sides and willows on three sides, one city has mountains and half a city has lakes". The eight scenic spots in Jinan are world-famous. It is a tourist city with unique characteristics of "mountains, springs, lakes, rivers and cities", a national historical and cultural city, the first batch of excellent tourist cities in China, and prehistoric culture.
It is bordered by the central and western Shandong Province in the south, Taishan Mountain in the south, the Yellow River in the north and the mountains and waters in the back. It borders Liaocheng in the southwest, Dezhou and Binzhou in the north, Zibo in the east and Tai 'an and Laiwu in the south.
Jinan is located at 36 40 ′ north latitude and117 00 ′ east longitude, with Mount Tai in the south and the Yellow River in the north.
