Hainan dialect belongs to Minnan dialect of Sino-Tibetan language family, which is spoken by more than 5 million people in the province, accounting for about 80% of the total population of the province. This is the most widely used dialect in Hainan. Mainly distributed in the coastal areas of Haikou, Qiongshan, Wenchang, Qionghai, Wanning, Tunchang, Chengmai and other cities and counties. In different places, the pronunciation and tone of Hainan dialect are different, but they can generally talk to each other. Wenchang dialect is usually used as the standard pronunciation in Hainan dialect, as well as the standard pronunciation of Hainan dialect broadcast by radio and television stations and Hainan dialect announcers recruited for the exam. Hainan's traditional Qiongju opera is also sung with Wenchang accent.
