The No.1 Middle School in Xishan District, Kunming City, Yunnan Province is located in the main city of Kunming, with convenient transportation, close to Renmin West Road and Haiyuan Middle Road.
Founded in 1979, the school covers an area of 72 mu and has 42 classes and more than 2,400 students. It is a key middle school in Xishan District and the largest middle school in Xishan District. The school has three teaching buildings and two dormitory buildings, which can accommodate 1200 students. All kinds of teaching facilities are complete, including standard sports facilities such as track and field, two first-class computer classrooms, multimedia classrooms and multifunctional conference rooms in the city, as well as language lab, audio-visual classroom, music room, art room, reading room, and supporting science, chemistry and biology laboratories.
At present, the school has a group of outstanding teachers who are active in teaching and research posts in provinces, cities and districts. Among them, there are city and district academic leaders and backbone teachers, and many of them won the first, second and third prizes of Kunming Young Teachers' Teaching Grand Prix. West No.1 Middle School always adheres to the direction of cultivating "socialist builders and successors with all-round development in morality, intelligence, physique and beauty"; Junior high school teaching ranks first in Xishan district education-run middle school for many years in a row, and the teaching quality of senior high school education is also rising steadily. Especially in 200 1 year, Zhang Wenxing, a student of our school, won the top prize in science in the college entrance examination in Xishan District with an excellent score of 637 and was admitted to Tsinghua University.
In recent years, the school attaches great importance to the overall improvement of students' quality and the all-round cultivation and shaping of students. The school established Xishan No.1 Middle School, and also set up four sub-newspapers: Friends of Parents, Friends of Students, Information on Education and Scientific Research, and Information on Civic Morality Construction. A parent school was established, and famous experts, diligence, Dempsey and Qi in the province were invited to give lectures. Many student organizations have been established, including "Tian Chang" Literature Society, oral English interest groups, choirs, dance teams, bands, basketball teams, football teams, track and field teams and so on.
Xishan No.1 Middle School was officially listed as the "Research and Practice Base of Quality Education for Teenagers in China" and participated in the "Research on the Relationship between Children's Behavior Habits and Personality" in the Tenth Five-Year Plan of National Education Science. Compiling the school-based textbook "How to Develop Good Habits" won the first prize at the national level.
