After graduating from flexner University, I first taught in a high school in my hometown, and later founded a school according to my ideal of establishing a "scholar's paradise". In running a school, he pays attention to students' initiative and exploration spirit, and encourages students to manage and learn by themselves. People call this school "Mr flexner's school".
1905, he closed the school he had worked hard for 14 years and went to Harvard University and German University for postgraduate study. During this period, he maintained his interest in higher education research. He has widely absorbed the idea that "university is a place for scientific research" pursued by German classic universities, and has a profound recognition of the school-running mode of Europe, especially Berlin University.
From 65438 to 0909, flexner was entrusted by the Carnegie Foundation for the Advancement of Teaching in the United States to conduct an in-depth investigation on the medical training in the United States at that time. He found that most medical colleges have no medical experimental teaching at all, and they are irresponsible diploma sellers. In the investigation report, he put forward some important suggestions on medical education reform, which were mostly adopted by the government, thus contributing to an effective medical education reform movement in the United States. In this movement, the level of medical training institutions in the United States has been significantly improved, and strict medical training standards have been formulated.
Since then, flexner has been invited by Rockefeller Foundation to do some other things, such as contributing to the establishment of Peking Union Medical College Hospital in China.
