Dongpo lived in Huangzhou for four years, so he was speechless with Li Qi.
However, just like giving up Du Gongbu, Haitang doesn't recite poems.
Su Shi used an allusion. Du Fu didn't write the story of Haitang. Du Fu wrote about 3,000 poems in his life, and handed down more than 400 poems, including some pastoral poems. There is a speculation about why Du Fu didn't write Haitang. There is a note in ancient and modern poems: "Du Zimei's mother name is Haitang, and her son is beautiful, so there is no Haitang poem in Du Ji." It is also possible that Du Fu did not write Haitang because he avoided his mother's name.
story
At a farewell party in Huangzhou, a singer asked Su Shi for poems. The singer's name is Li Qi. He asked Su Shi for poems several times, but all failed. This time, Li Qi asked Su Shi to write poems on her shawl.
Su Shi listened to her request and immediately asked her to learn ink. Then, with a wave of his hand, he wrote two poems on her shawl: Dongpo lived in Huangzhou for four years, why not talk about Li Qi? Su Dongpo lived in Huangzhou for four years, but why didn't he write something for Li Qi? Strange! But after writing these two poems, Su Dongpo continued to chat with his friends, and suddenly there seemed to be no intention to continue writing. These two poems are very simple and easy to understand, and they don't seem to reach the standard that Su Shi should have.
Li Qi waited for a long time, but she begged Su Dongpo to finish the poem again. So Su Dongpo picked up the pen again and wrote the remaining two poems in one go: Just like giving up Du Gongbu, Haitang kept silent about poetry.
As soon as these two sentences were written, the guests applauded! This is a relaxed and natural compliment to Li Qi. A clever allusion made this well-off singer famous in Huangzhou, and even spread through the ages.
