Xiao Nan Ren Dong couldn't help asking, when can China build one?

No one expected that many years later, he actually built a radio telescope with the largest caliber in the world for China.

Now, he is still a "prospective graduate" who is troubled by the admission notice.

That year, Nan was admitted to Tsinghua with an average score of 98.6 (full mark 100) and the first place in science in Jilin Province, but he was never happy.

Originally, Nan applied for the Department of Architecture in Tsinghua, and her final score was more than 50 points higher than that of the Department of Architecture, but she was transferred to the radio major. This is a great blow to South Ren Dong.

When his father found out, he gave him a lecture. "Wouldn't it be better to have one less architect and one more radio scientist in the country?"

In this way, under the arrangement of fate, Nan set foot on the south train and entered the radio major in Tsinghua.

After repeated calculation and deduction, he first designed the three-dimensional shape of the radio, and then gave the specific data of each part of the mold.

After successful graduation, South Ren Dong continued to study for a doctorate in astrophysics. With the deepening of astronomical research, South Ren Dong became more convinced that China needed to build its own radio telescope.

1967, the Englishman Bell discovered regular radio waves through a radio telescope. After studying with her tutor, she found that this is a new celestial body-pulsar, which caused a great sensation.

Bell's mentor won the Nobel Prize for this.

1974, Taylor and hoels discovered two binary systems orbiting each other through arecibo radio telescope, USA. After research, it is confirmed that they are a pair of "pulse binaries", which shocked the world again.

When there was no astronomical discovery in China, China astronomy gradually pulled away from the world.

Is it because China people are not smart enough? Or is it because we lack opportunity and luck?

Neither, just because we don't have a large-caliber radio telescope.

If a worker wants to do a good job, he must sharpen his tools first, which makes South Ren Dong regret it very much until he finds an opportunity to change the status quo.

1September 1993, the General Assembly of the International Radio Science Union was held in Japan. The meeting put forward a plan to organize all countries to build a new generation of large radio telescopes with super functions.

Nan Ren Dong was very excited when she learned about it. "We should seize this opportunity and actively participate."

If the project of building a large-scale radio telescope can be introduced into China, it will not only solve the embarrassment of the lack of large-caliber radio telescopes in China, but also promote the development of astronomy in China, killing two birds with one stone.

Just do it, Nan immediately wrote a "proposal for quick projects" and began to look for candidate sites.

In China, it is not easy to choose the most suitable venue.

South Ren Dong finally took aim at Guizhou, and in just over half a year, more than 300 eligible depressions were identified by remote sensing technology.

These depressions are remote, and cars can't get in at all, so they can only walk. South Ren Dong insists that every depression should be inspected and evaluated in person to avoid missing the best position.

As a result, Nan, who was over 50 years old, began to lead the team over mountains and mountains.
