Brief Introduction of Peking University Architectural Research Center

Peking University is one of the oldest and most authoritative institutions of higher learning in China. 1952 before the adjustment of departments, there was an architecture department. On the occasion of the centenary of 1998, Peking University decided to re-establish the discipline of architecture, and hired Professor Zhang Yonghe to preside over the establishment, with Hong Kong architect Zhong Huanan as honorary director. Peking University Architectural Research Center was formally established on May 27th, 2000, and started classes in September of the same year. 20 10 10 Peking University institute of architecture and landscape design was established on the basis of Peking University architecture research center and graduate school of landscape architecture.

At present, Professor Yong Fang is the executive deputy director of the Architectural Research Center, in charge of daily affairs. Peking University Architectural Research Center has 6 teachers, including 4 full-time teachers. It holds a master's degree in architecture and enrolls about six graduate students every year for three years. There are about 20 students at present.

The center adopts the dual-track policy of professor research room/studio, emphasizes the organic combination of theory and practice, and cooperates with the architect qualification examination system that has been started in China to cultivate professional architects who can practice independently and outstanding talents who specialize in architectural research and teaching.

The center has hired many architects with rich practical experience as visiting professors, and established 18 specialized research institutes. These tutors come from architectural design, media criticism, academic research, light environment and other fields. We hope to provide students with diversified perspectives and the right to choose freely.

Peking University Architecture Research Center is located in Jingchun Garden. The central building consists of two parts. One is No.79, Jingchun Garden, which is a place for administrative office and students' daily study. The second is the Sanheyuan on the west side of the island, which is used for teachers to work and hold lectures and meetings; In addition, there is a square building in the southeast of Boyata for design and research.
