Lijiang is a prefecture-level city under the jurisdiction of Yunnan Province, located in the northwest of Yunnan Province, at the junction of Yunnan-Guizhou Plateau and Qinghai-Tibet Plateau. The urban area is located at100 25' north latitude 26 86', adjacent to Diqing Tibetan Autonomous Prefecture in the north, Dali Bai Autonomous Prefecture in the south, Nujiang Lisu Autonomous Prefecture in the west, and Liangshan Yi Autonomous Prefecture in Sichuan and Panzhihua City in the east. It belongs to the southwest monsoon climate of the plateau.
