Lijiang is a prefecture-level city under the jurisdiction of Yunnan Province, located in the northwest of Yunnan Province, at the junction of Yunnan-Guizhou Plateau and Qinghai-Tibet Plateau. The urban area is located at100 25' north latitude 26 86', adjacent to Diqing Tibetan Autonomous Prefecture in the north, Dali Bai Autonomous Prefecture in the south, Nujiang Lisu Autonomous Prefecture in the west, and Liangshan Yi Autonomous Prefecture in Sichuan and Panzhihua City in the east. It belongs to the southwest monsoon climate of the plateau.
1950, changed to Lijiang Commissioner's Office. At the end of 1953, Lake County was transferred from Baoshan to Lijiang. 1980, Lijiang District Administrative Office was established.
Lijiang has been a transit point for the Silk Road and the ancient tea-horse road since ancient times. There is a Old Town of Lijiang in Lijiang, which was built in the Southern Song Dynasty. The name of Naxi people is Gong Benzhi. Famous scenic spots are: Old Town of Lijiang,? Yulong Snow Mountain.
