Xiamen (in English: Amoy), a sub-provincial administrative region (city) under the jurisdiction of Fujian Province, referred to as Ludao for short, is a city under separate state planning. It is the China Special Economic Zone approved by the State Council, an important central city, port and scenic tourist city in the southeast coast. Xiamen is located at the southeast end of Fujian Province, bordering Zhangzhou Taiwanese Investment Zone in the west, Nan 'an in the north and Dajinmen and Dadan Island across the sea in the southeast. It is a major city in southern Fujian. Together with Zhangzhou and Quanzhou, it is also called Xiazhangquan and Minnan Golden Triangle Economic Zone.

Shenzhen, referred to as Pengcheng for short, is a provincial capital city, a sub-provincial city, a national regional central city and a megacity in Guangdong Province. It is located in the south of Guangdong Province, on the east bank of the Pearl River Delta, separated from Hong Kong by water, bordering Daya Bay and Dapeng Bay in the east, the Pearl River Estuary and Lingdingyang in the west, Hong Kong and Shenzhen Rivers in the south and Dongguan and Huizhou in the north.
Shenzhen is the first special economic zone established by China's reform and opening up, and it is the window of China's reform and opening up. It has developed into an influential international city, creating a world-renowned "Shenzhen Speed" and enjoying the reputation of "City of Design", "City of Piano" and "City of Makers".
Shenzhen is the national economic center and international city of the State Council, and it is also called "Northern Guangzhou and Shenzhen" with Beijing, Shanghai and Guangzhou.
