Brief introduction of british indian ocean territory

British Indian Ocean Territory (English: British Indian Ocean Territory) is a British overseas territory in the Indian Ocean, including Chagos Archipelago and 2,300 tropical islands, with a total land area of about 60 square kilometers. The whole territory is located in the south of Maldives, between the east coast of Africa and Indonesia, about 6 degrees south latitude and 7 1.30 minutes east longitude. Diego Garcia I is the southernmost island in the archipelago and the largest island in the territory, occupying a strategic position in the center of the entire Indian Ocean. Britain and the United States cooperated on this island and jointly established a military base, mainly operated by the US military, as a relay supply station for the naval fleet. In addition to the military port, the island has also established a military airport with complete specifications, and super-large strategic bombers such as B-52 can also take off and land smoothly. Diego Garcia became the frontline base of strategic bombers in the American wars against Iraq and Afghanistan, providing long-range air support.
