1. Who sponsored this volunteer project?

In order to actively promote Chinese, improve the teaching level of Chinese in the world, promote the spread of Chinese and China culture abroad, deepen mutual understanding between China and other countries, and enhance the friendship and exchanges between people all over the world, the Office of the International Chinese Proficiency Committee (hereinafter referred to as Hanban) has formulated the "China Volunteer Program for International Chinese Teachers". This plan is one of the new measures taken by Hanban to provide Chinese teachers for countries in need by taking advantage of China's human resources as a mother-tongue country, so as to meet the needs of the vigorous development of Chinese teaching in the world.

This plan was approved by the Ministry of Education of China on March 26th, 2004 and implemented by Hanban.

Hanban established the China International Volunteer Center for Chinese Teachers (hereinafter referred to as the "Volunteer Center") to undertake the specific daily work of this project.

2. What are the requirements for this voluntary service?

China nationality, physical and mental health, under the age of 65; Dedicated, passionate about teaching Chinese as a foreign language, enthusiastic about volunteer service activities, and volunteering to teach Chinese abroad; Good conduct, no record of crime or negligence; College degree or above in Chinese as a foreign language, Chinese, history, philosophy, education, foreign languages, political science, psychology, law, sociology and other related majors; Retired college Chinese teacher; Retired Chinese teachers in primary and secondary schools with college education or above; Mandarin level.

Able to bear hardships and stand hard work; Responsible, helpful and patient; Life is simple, and you should be psychologically prepared to work and live in a strange environment of different cultures for a long time; Cheerful and adaptable, able to adapt to the working and living environment of the sending country as soon as possible; Leadership and management skills are preferred.

3. Do volunteers who apply for Chinese teaching need to have experience in teaching Chinese as a foreign language?

Not necessarily, but applicants need to have basic knowledge of Chinese and China culture, as well as certain language teaching ability. Applicants with relevant experience and experience will be given priority.

4. How do applicants register?

Anyone who meets the requirements of volunteer service can apply for registration by downloading the China International Chinese Teacher Volunteer Registration Application Form from the Hanban website (www.hanban.edu.cn). At the same time, submit my resume, copy of ID card and household registration book, copy of education certificate, and certificate of no criminal negligence record (issued by the school student affairs office and local public security organs for social personnel). All materials should be sent to the Volunteer Center by registered mail or express mail (Address: Floor 17, Fiona Fang Building, No.56 Zhongguancun South Street, Haidian District, Beijing, 100044).

The Volunteer Center shall review the applicant according to the application materials submitted by the applicant. Those who pass the examination will have their personal information stored in the volunteer talent pool for the record.

5. Do volunteers need to master the language of the sending country?

Volunteers are not required to master the language of the sending country, but they should have a certain level of English for the convenience of teaching and life. When recruiting volunteers, those who know the language of the sending country are preferred. Please be sure to indicate your language and level when registering.

6. When can I serve abroad after registration?

It depends on foreign demand. In principle, the information of volunteers will be kept in the human resources database of the volunteer center for two years. During this period, the volunteer center will select the volunteers according to the requirements received from abroad and their own conditions and wishes, and those who meet the requirements will be informed of the interview. The volunteer center conducts a comprehensive evaluation according to the interviewer's situation, determines the candidates for admission, sends the admission notice to the admitted personnel, and publishes the admission list on the Hanban website. After being accepted, volunteers will undergo physical examination, sign agreements and receive business training. After passing the training and assessment, dispatch as planned.

7. What is the treatment of volunteers serving abroad?

The basic living allowance for overseas volunteers is $400 per person per month. If foreign countries accept the volunteer living allowance provided by foreign volunteer units, the volunteer center will no longer provide it if the subsidy meets the above standards; If the allowance is lower than the above standard, it will be supplemented by the volunteer center.

The volunteer center will negotiate with foreign teaching institutions that accept volunteers to ensure that the teaching time of volunteers does not exceed the legal working hours of the host country and enjoys legal holidays.

8. How does the volunteer center manage volunteer service?

Hanban will sign a volunteer service agreement with the confirmed volunteers for the China Volunteer Program for International Chinese Teachers, in which the rights and responsibilities of both parties will be clearly defined. During the term of this agreement, if both parties violate this agreement or fail to perform this agreement without justifiable reasons or interrupt the performance of this agreement in advance, they shall bear the liability for damages caused to the other party and other corresponding legal responsibilities.

9. What should I do if I get sick or accidentally injured while serving abroad?

The Volunteer Center attaches great importance to maintaining the health and life safety of volunteers. In order to ensure the health and safety of volunteers, according to international practice, every volunteer will enjoy medical insurance and personal accident insurance. Volunteers can also take out other insurance programs themselves. In addition, if volunteers encounter difficulties abroad, we will try our best to provide necessary help, but volunteers themselves should also have the ability to solve problems. In case of emergency or major accident, we will inform our embassy (consulate) abroad in time and ask for assistance.

Volunteers should have a sense of self-protection, accept the guidance and help of China's embassies (consulates) abroad, respect local customs and habits, get along well with service personnel, and try to avoid going out alone and going to unsafe areas.

10. How long is the volunteer's service abroad?

The service period of volunteers varies from half a year to two years, depending on the needs of the sending country. Volunteers who wish to extend the service period must submit a written application to the Volunteer Center in advance during the service period. The volunteer center will negotiate with the sending country and make a decision on whether to agree to the extension and the treatment within the extension period according to the specific circumstances. If the sending country requests to extend the service period of volunteers, and the volunteers agree, the service period can be extended after reporting to the Volunteer Center for approval.

Conduct business training for volunteers to be sent after signing the volunteer service agreement, and invite experienced teachers or experts from all walks of life to teach and hold lectures; Timely release relevant information through the Hanban website (www.hanban.edu.cn), answer questions raised by volunteers at any time, and provide consulting services.

12. Who will bear the related expenses such as air tickets for volunteers to serve abroad?

The volunteer center bears the transportation subsidy, accommodation and training expenses during the training period; Medical examination fee (those who fail the medical examination will not be able to participate in overseas training and volunteer service); Passport fee for private ordinary passport, visa fee. The international travel expenses of volunteers to the service place in the sending country are provided by the volunteer center or the sending country.

13. Do I need to hold a passport before applying?

No passport is required before application. Those who don't have a passport need to confirm their volunteer status in the volunteer center and decide to apply for a personal passport as soon as possible after sending it.

14. Who is responsible for the visa and other related procedures?

In principle, visas are handled by individual volunteers, and the volunteer center will provide necessary help.

15. Do I need to get vaccinated before I leave?

This depends on the specific conditions and requirements of the dispatched country. When necessary, the volunteer center will organize injections or advise volunteers to go to the hospital for injections themselves, and the expenses will be borne by the volunteer center.

16. How is the accommodation in the service area?

In principle, the receiving unit of the sending country provides overseas housing for volunteers, and the basic living facilities in the place of residence can meet the needs. Due to the differences in customs, we must pay attention to a healthy diet.

17. Can family members visit volunteers when they are abroad?

During the service of volunteers abroad, if relatives of volunteers wish to visit the service place, they can go abroad for personal reasons and go through relevant formalities at their own expense. Under normal circumstances, volunteers are unaccompanied.

18. Will the Volunteer Center provide teaching materials for volunteers?

Before sending volunteers, the volunteer center will entrust relevant universities to train volunteers. During the training period, textbooks related to teaching Chinese as a foreign language compiled by Hanban will be distributed, which can also be used as reference for volunteers' future teaching. When volunteers go abroad to serve, the volunteer center will recommend teaching materials, provide sample books and promote a small number of teaching materials according to the specific teaching conditions of the sending country. Hanban hopes that volunteers will actively encourage teaching units to use Chinese textbooks compiled by our office.

19. What kind of training will the volunteer center provide for volunteers?

The volunteer center strengthens the business training for volunteer organizations. The training time is not less than 2 weeks and 60 class hours. The purpose is to cultivate the self-confidence of volunteers to work abroad, strengthen their understanding of sending countries, be familiar with Chinese knowledge and teaching Chinese as a foreign language, and improve their comprehensive quality. The main training contents are the nature and characteristics of teaching Chinese as a foreign language and the basic quality of teachers of Chinese as a foreign language; Basic knowledge of teaching Chinese as a foreign language (pronunciation, vocabulary, grammar); Basic methods of teaching Chinese as a foreign language (preparing lessons, organizing classes, practicing and testing); The application of modern technology and materials in teaching Chinese as a foreign language (network, multimedia, audio and video); Foreign affairs etiquette, relevant policies and matters needing attention; Brief introduction of national conditions and health care knowledge of sending countries.

20. What are the requirements of the Volunteer Center for volunteers during their service abroad?

Volunteers should take the initiative to accept the leadership of our embassy (consulate) in the host country; Strive to complete the volunteer service work as agreed; Abide by the laws and regulations of the sending country and the rules and regulations of the school, respect the customs and habits of the sending country and have friendly exchanges with the local people; Do not engage in other activities that are inconsistent with the identity of volunteers.

The Volunteer Center will send people to the countries where volunteers are sent from time to time to inspect the work of volunteers, help them improve the teaching effect and help them solve problems in their work and life.

2 1. What should I do after the expiration of volunteer service?

After the expiration of volunteer service, volunteers must report to the volunteer center in time, and submit their personal work summary to the volunteer center within one month after returning home, and the volunteer center will make an appraisal of their volunteer service abroad. For volunteers who have successfully completed their volunteer service as required, Hanban will issue the honorary certificate of China Volunteer International Chinese Teacher. For those who have won foreign praise and made outstanding contributions in volunteer service, Hanban will issue the honorary certificate of "China Volunteer" as an outstanding international Chinese teacher. However, for those who fail to fulfill the agreement or make major mistakes in volunteer service, the volunteer center will investigate their necessary responsibilities according to the agreement.

After the volunteers return home, the agreement between Hanban and the volunteers is terminated, and the volunteer center is not responsible for the work and living arrangements of the volunteers after returning home.

22. What if volunteers need to return to China urgently?

Volunteers can apply to the teaching unit and the volunteer center at the same time, and can return to China at their own expense after approval.

23. In this volunteer project, through what channels did Hanban obtain foreign demand information and decide to send it?

Hanban will keep in touch with the Education and Culture Section of China's embassies and consulates abroad, as well as the education departments, educational institutions, mass organizations, China Teachers' Association and other relevant organizations of various countries to understand the needs of volunteers.
