Where is Qingdao Catholic Church?

Qingdao Catholic Church is a cultural tourist attraction.

Qingdao Catholic Church, also known as "St. Miel's Church", is located on the Gaogang at the northern end of Zhejiang Road (Zhejiang Road 15) in Shinan District of Qingdao, and is the largest Catholic Church in Qingdao. It is also one of the famous Catholic churches in China and the only one in China. The Catholic Church was proposed and built by German Bishop Wei. 1932 started and 1934 was completed. Designed by German architectural engineer Biluha, the exterior style is Gothic architecture. The church covers an area of 2,470 square meters with a building area of 3,223.58 square meters. Both sides are symmetrical, each with a garden, and a bungalow is built in the north of the east garden of the church for the use of priests.

The structure of the church building is concrete and granite, and the building plane is cruciform. The main entrance is in the southwest, one on the left and one on the right. The outside of the church is granite, and there is a huge rose-shaped round window above the gate.

On the two wings of the main body of the church, there is a steeple with a height of 56 meters and a 4.5-meter-high cross at the top, weighing 1 ton. There are four clocks in the tower, which are designed according to music and harmony. They are all mechanically operated. Every Sunday or church holiday, when the big clock starts, beautiful and rhythmic bells can be heard several miles away in Fiona Fang, which is intoxicating. The hall in the Catholic Church is18m high, with a north-south building plane and corridors in the east and west. All the windows in the hall are stained glass with biblical stories as the background. The roof and arcade of the hall are arched, and the mural of the Virgin Mary is painted on the dome directly above. There are seven large and medium-sized copper chandeliers on the roof, and the largest one consists of more than 60 lamp holders. There are countless other wall lamp roofs. Because the internal column structure and all parts are connected by rising dynamic lines, it looks solemn.

On the west side of the church is the tomb of Bishop Wei Luchang, a German priest. The words "Wei, the first bishop of Qingdao" are engraved on the slate on the tomb. On the west wall of the tomb, there are Chinese and Latin stone tablets on both sides, engraved with the life resume of Bishop Wei. There are two large altars at the back of the church, two small altars symmetrical to the left and right, and the iconic murals on the dome are solemn and beautiful. There are more than 1000 seats in the hall. Qingdao Catholic Church is one of the largest churches in Asia.

The Catholic Church was rebuilt in 1980, reopened during Easter in 1982, and officially opened to domestic and foreign tourists in May 1999. 1992, which was announced by Shandong Provincial People's Government as a cultural relic protection unit in Shandong Province.
