I am a journalism major. Can I do new media operations after graduation?

What kind of industry is new media operation?

Some people think that this industry is a bridge to realize the transformation of the physical industry. Some people think that it is the general trend in the future. Of course, many people think that the new media operation industry is very easy to mix. For the contemporary era, I think most people's views on new media are based on the previous point of view.

In recent years, many graduates have entered the new media industry, both those majoring in journalism and Chinese, and those majoring in finance, mechanization and accounting, which seem to be unable to catch up with the new media, have expressed their love for the new media industry. In the last two years, I began to lead the team and contacted some interviewers for new media operation positions. In contact with new people, I have more and more doubts. Is the operation of new media really so easy to mix?

Maybe you will encounter such a question during the interview: Why did you choose this position/industry? Because I also like to ask this question in the interview. The answer given by most people is: I like to write something because I am very interested in copywriting.

Perhaps in the eyes of laymen, this answer is really standard. You like copywriting, so you must be familiar with the work of new media? However, in fact, when the interviewer said this sentence, I often put a question mark in my mind about this person's ability and his understanding of the operation of new media.

In my opinion, I like copywriting, I can do copywriting, I can be an original writer, and I can even engage in the Chinese culture industry. In the new media operation industry, it can be said that for those who have a writer's dream, most areas have been rejected.

In many people's eyes, the work of new media operation is nothing more than writing code words, emotional articles, thoughts, product introductions and other tedious work every day. However, I prefer to regard the operation of new media as a work against algorithms.

Admittedly, there are many self-media platforms such as Headline, WeChat official account, Weibo, Big Fish, Baijia and so on. There are also short video platforms such as Tik Tok, volcano video, and Aauto Quicker. And there are also many live broadcast platforms, such as Live Broadcast, which provide more and more forms of product exposure for all walks of life and create more employment opportunities for the new media industry.

However, the operation of new media is not a heart that likes copywriting, nor is it a trivial matter that can be done by completing the copywriting work at hand. Each platform has its own algorithm rules. The traffic distribution form of each platform, the recommendation algorithm of different platforms for content output, the sensitivity to hot topics, the speed of content output and the creative form are all directions that every new media operator needs to explore continuously.

Playing the platform is not just downloading so-called teaching materials from the Internet, nor copying explosive content. Knowing the algorithm rules and making explosions depends on familiarity with a platform and my own experience in the new media industry.

If you ask me, people who like to write copywriting are not suitable for new media operation, and people with professional counterparts are not suitable for new media operation, then what kind of talents are suitable for new media operation?

My answer is: people who have a flow pool in their eyes are the most suitable for entry.
