Introduction of Bijiashan Tunnel?

Bijiashan Tunnel is the tunnel of Guangdong Railway in Kowloon, Hong Kong. Located between Kowloon Tong Station and Tai Wai Station, it runs through Bijia Mountain. The existing two-lane tunnel was opened on April 26th, 198 1.

The development of history

The first Bijiashan tunnel started at 1906, with a length of 2.4 kilometers and one-way traffic, and was opened at 19 10. Tunnel excavation was one of the largest projects in Asia at that time.

In 1960s and 1970s, KCRC began to lay double tracks of two-way traffic to match the electrification of the system, and built a new tunnel with single pipe and two-way traffic to the west of the old tunnel.

1981April, with the opening of the new tunnel, KCRC also closed the old tunnel. At present, the Hong Kong and China Gas Company Limited uses the old tunnel to transport gas.

work progress

On the afternoon of March 16, 2009, Bijiashan Tunnel, which was built by Hada Project Department of China Railway No.1 Bridge Company, was successfully completed with the last loud explosion. After a year of hard work, all the construction workers' faces are filled with uncontrollable joy. This is the festival they have been fighting for and dreaming of, and it is a hard-won festival to ensure the completion of Harbin-Dalian passenger dedicated line ahead of schedule. The majestic Bijiashan Tunnel is located one kilometer north of Pulandian Bay on Harbin-Dalian Passenger Dedicated Line, adjacent to No.3 beam-making yard of Wafangdian on Harbin-Dalian Passenger Dedicated Line in the south and Pulandian Bay Bridge on Harbin-Dalian Passenger Dedicated Line in the north, with a total length of 345 meters. It is an enlarged section tunnel. The tunnel has a span of 17.5m, a height of 14.49m, and a total excavation area of 205m2, which is 52m2 larger than that of ordinary cross-section tunnels, making it the largest excavation area of similar tunnels in domestic passenger dedicated lines. It is understood that the tunnel is shallow buried with bias, and the maximum buried depth is about 3 1 m. Bijiashan tunnel passes through loose rock stratum and is easy to collapse, so it is very risky to adopt ordinary tunnel excavation technology. Therefore, China Railway No.1 Bureau applied the internationally advanced subsea tunnel excavation technology to land for the first time, adding a horizontal brace and a vertical brace in the middle of the tunnel, and dividing the whole tunnel into four sections for excavation in turn, thus achieving a major breakthrough in China's railway tunnel excavation technology. Liu Guangwei, chief engineer of Harbin-Dalian Passenger Dedicated Line Project Department of China Railway No.1 Bureau, said: "Through independent excavation of these four sections, the excavation distance is staggered, which ensures the construction safety."

The smooth connection of Bijiashan Tunnel is inseparable from the hard work of all participants in the project. Since the start of construction, the tunnel construction personnel of the project department have given up the opportunity of holidays and family reunion, overcome many difficulties such as harsh external construction environment and harsh winter construction climate, worked overtime to catch up with the progress and worked 24 hours a day to ensure the smooth operation of the tunnel. In order to reward all the employees who participated in the construction for their hard work, the project department gave the employees a bonus of 20,000 yuan on the spot.

meaning

The successful completion of Bijiashan Tunnel has won time for completing the overall goal of Harbin-Dalian Passenger Dedicated Line one and a half years ahead of schedule. In addition, the Gongfang Bridge with a total length of 295 1 m, the Songjiatun Bridge with a total length of 1.565 m and the Yuantun Bridge with a total length of 1.280 m will be erected from the No.3 beam yard to Dalian, and the Pulandian Bay Bridge will be erected all the way through the Bijiashan Tunnel. The smooth penetration of Bijiashan Tunnel also won valuable time for the project to complete 80% of the overall goal of beam erection.
