Introduce comprehensive social security assistance
The Comprehensive Social Security Assistance Scheme (CSSA) is a supplementary income scheme in Hong Kong's social welfare system. As a social welfare safety net for Hong Kong people who are not self-sufficient, the Hong Kong Social Welfare Department is responsible for co-ordination. As of June 5438+10, 2006, a total of 297570 people applied for CSSA, benefiting 539593 people. In fiscal year 2004/05, the total expenditure of Hong Kong government on CSSA was HK$ 654.38 billion+07.6 billion. Before 1993, the predecessor of CSSA was the public assistance program.
