Ningxia is a provincial administrative region in People's Republic of China (PRC), and Yinchuan, the capital of Ningxia, is one of the five minority autonomous regions in China. Ningxia is located in the upper reaches of the Yellow River in the west of China, bordering Shaanxi Province in the east, Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region in the west and north, and Gansu Province in the southwest, south and southeast. Ningxia is located in the north section of the north-south axis of China, between the North China Platform, Alashan Platform and Qilian Mountain Fold.
