Pre-sale career planning can have a company CEO, but not after sale.
Theoretically, the understanding of software before sale should be deeper than after sale, because you will face all kinds of problems of customers, and the scheme needs to be written comprehensively. You need to know your system and even the whole industry like the back of your hand. You can also consult the consulting industry and even the product manager.
After-sales are actually two kinds, one is implementation, the other is operation and maintenance, and the work content is basically modular. Of course, I didn't say that the after-sales service was not good. Both directions are very tired, and each line can win the top spot. It's just that personally, I prefer pre-sale.
In the process of pre-sales development, it is a great span from pre-sales engineer to pre-sales consultant. Now the demand for pre-sales consultants is increasing, but the demand for pre-sales engineers is not necessarily increasing. As far as personal experience is concerned, I will briefly talk about the difference between the two:
1. Pre-sales engineers only provide technical solutions for users' needs. In other words, to be a pre-sales engineer, there is a premise that the user's needs have been determined or formed.
Most of the work of pre-sales consultants is to put forward the framework and strategy of user informatization by analyzing the current business or management status of users, and provide a set of solutions to realize this framework and strategy according to this framework and strategy.
If the tender is regarded as a critical point, the pre-sales engineer will often provide the user with the tender, while the pre-sales consultant will generally provide the user with two parts: information planning and information system construction proposal.
2. Pre-sales engineers are required to be more familiar with technology implementation and project management than users' business. Because of the high certainty of users' original requirements, it is only necessary to show users the company's technology and project management examples on a certain project by analyzing the original requirements and combining their own technical knowledge and project management knowledge.
Pre-sales consultants have higher requirements for users' business and management, that is, more often, pre-sales consultants are collecting, counting and analyzing users' current business and management data, and providing users with a set of well-founded and profitable information strategies and return on investment reports through the use of these data.
