Dr. Li Zhengdao is an internationally renowned expert in bone marrow transplantation. Dr. Li/KLOC-0 was born in Taiwan Province Province in 1935, and/KLOC-0 received his doctorate from Rutgers University in 1972. When Dr. Li worked in the bone marrow transplantation matching center in the United States, he found that a large number of China people with leukemia died because they could not be treated without proper bone marrow matching. Li Zhengdao returned to Taiwan Province in 1992, and started to set up the China bone marrow database, in order to give his compatriots suffering from hematological tumors a second chance.
1993 10, at the initiative of Yan Zheng, the Taiwanese Buddhist Tzu Chi Charity Foundation, Li Zhengdao formally established the largest Chinese bone marrow database in the world-Tzu Chi bone marrow donor Center in Taiwan Province Province. Li Zhengdao is the director of the genetics and immunology laboratory of the center.
Li Zhengdao brought advanced technology to Tzu Chi Bone Marrow Donation Center. Under his guidance, the accuracy of genotyping tests for bone marrow donor recipients and recipients has improved rapidly. At present, the donation center has donated 250 cases of bone marrow to the world. Among them, 85 unrelated bone marrow transplants were jointly implemented by both sides of the Taiwan Strait.
