First, the military strength was weak during the war. Jilin Province is a large province in China. It is a veritable coastal province, but it has become an inland province. Actually, it is not that we want to give up the title of this coastal province. Only during the Second Opium War, China's military strength and comprehensive national strength did not rank in the world, and the number of countries going to sea was limited. China had to give up this opportunity to go to sea.
Second, historical treaty restrictions. When the British and French allied forces launched the Second Opium War, China signed the Aihui Treaty, which humiliated the country. This treaty stipulated that a large part of the land in northeast China was allocated to Russia, probably because humiliation blinded the eyes of the people of China. Our representative in China just wanted to solve the land problem as soon as possible, but he didn't know the details of this treaty clearly. For its own benefit, Russia is unwilling to designate Jilin Province as a seaport, because a seaport can bring many benefits. After China lost its seaport in the Northeast, even its daily travel by boat was restricted by other countries, which was very unfavorable to the development of the Northeast.
For the development of Northeast China and the dignity of our country, it is our goal to establish a seaport in the three northeastern provinces. Later, through our own efforts, we finally had a combined transport channel between China, Russia, Korea and land, which greatly facilitated our overseas trade and enhanced the friendship between countries.
