Introduction of the Twin Towers of Miao Feng Temple?

Miao Feng Temple Twin Towers, also known as Tazigou Twin Towers, are located in Tazigou Village, Yonganbao Township, Suizhong County, Huludao City, Liaoning Province. National key cultural relics protection units.

The Twin Towers were built in the Gantong period of Liao Dynasty (A.D.11-1114), so they were named after Miao Feng Temple under the tower. The twin towers, one big and one small, are opposite to each other, with a distance of 40 meters (50 meters), and their structures, shapes and sculptures are basically the same. The tower is an octagonal nine-level brick tower with dense eaves and a height of 24 meters (19 meters), of which the tower base is 2.3 meters high, with two small plastic Buddha statues on eight sides and various patterns carved around it. Each octagonal plastic brick is engraved with eight donkey kong with a corner shoulder bar. The first tower accounts for about one-third of the whole tower, with a big brick Buddha statue carved on each side, sitting on the lotus, and a flying fairy lying on the Xiangyun overhead, with a leisurely net in her hand. Among them, Zhengnan Bodhisattva has beads around her neck, one hand caressing her knees and the other hand caressing her chest, and the left shoulder side is engraved with the five characters "Xuan Ci stupa". Zhengdong Bodhisattva protects her chest with both hands and sits cross-legged on the lotus, on her right shoulder. The Buddha statues on other faces have different postures, and they are beautifully carved, delicate and lifelike. The brick eaves of the tower were carved into a flat arch. The above eight floors are stacked eaves with beautiful shapes. There are several copper bells hanging under the eaves, and the wind blows.

Miao Feng Temple's twin towers and small towers, with brick hexagonal five-step eaves, are 9.14m high. Nowadays, the brick carvings of the tower are basically well preserved, and the Buddha statues are lifelike, with clear patterns and the same image, which makes people linger after seeing them. The maintenance of the Twin Towers began on 20 10.

There are many towers built in Liao Dynasty, but the words "Emperor's Proclamation" carved on the towers are extremely rare, which further increases the historical value, artistic value and research value of the Miao Feng Temple Twin Towers, and also provides valuable physical materials for studying the religious development and architectural characteristics of Liao Dynasty.

The Twin Towers were announced as provincial cultural relics protection units on 1988. In 20 13, it was promoted to the seventh batch of national key cultural relics protection units.
