In recent years, due to the central government's emphasis on "agriculture, countryside and farmers" and increased investment in agriculture, agricultural construction and rural economic development have accelerated, thus promoting the development of agricultural engineering consulting and design industry. By the end of 2004, the number of professional technicians engaged in agricultural engineering consulting, survey and design in China increased from about 3,000 at the end of last century to about 5,000. Consulting, survey and design institutions with Grade A and Grade B qualifications for agricultural engineering consulting and agricultural and forestry engineering design have grown from less than 50 at the end of last century to more than 100 now.
