How to treat snoring?

Snoring (medical terminology is snoring, snoring, sleep apnea syndrome) is a common sleep phenomenon. At present, most people think it is a cliche, but it is not. Some people regard snoring as a sign of a sound sleep. In fact, snoring is the enemy of health, because snoring repeatedly causes sleep and apnea, causing severe hypoxia in the brain and blood, forming hypoxemia, inducing hypertension, brain heart disease, arrhythmia, myocardial infarction, angina pectoris and so on. The apnea time at night exceeds 120 seconds, and sudden death is easy to occur in the early morning.

Causes of snoring:

In medicine, snoring is called "sleep apnea syndrome". According to statistics, the problem of male snoring is more serious, and the ratio of male to female is "6 to 0/kloc". On the other hand, men start snoring earlier, which may occur after the age of 20, while women are later than men, mostly after the age of 40.

In medical theory, snoring is caused by the following three reasons:

1, caused by central diseases;

2. Obstructive diseases;

3, caused by mixed diseases;

Generally speaking, mixed symptoms are the most common problem for adults, and obstruction is the most common problem for minors.

The medical community believes that snoring may also be caused by other physical reasons. At present, medical research reports show that patients with hypertension and cardiovascular diseases are more likely to snore, and obese people are more likely to snore. In addition, patients with chest diseases, diabetes and rheumatoid arthritis are more likely to snore.

Psychological causes of snoring and its adjustment methods;

Snoring is the embodiment of people's language and reaction during sleep.

According to the survey, the frequency of snoring of more than 63% people is related to the influence of the surrounding environment. After people fall asleep, the body goes into a dormant state. But the body function has not stopped, and it can still respond to external influences. Snoring is a direct response to external sound interference after the human body enters hibernation. The louder the external noise, the louder the snoring sound and the higher the snoring frequency. Compared with the quiet environment, the probability of snoring is obviously reduced, even after a sleep, no longer snoring. This is directly related to the living environment. Psychologically speaking, snoring is a dialogue between human beings and the real world in their sleep. The influence of external sound on people, the reaction of sleeping people to external reaction is snoring. Therefore, a quiet sleeping environment is one of the basic elements to treat snoring.

Sleep in a quiet environment, don't turn on the TV and listen to music. Even if you fall asleep in an disturbed environment, make sure that when you fall asleep, the external sound interference disappears. This is the key to treating snoring.

People who live together should start from the root. After others fall asleep, don't make noise above 15 decibels to affect others' sleep. Don't talk loudly to others, because it will make people who snore heavily talk in their sleep. In severe cases, it will cause a short pause in breathing, which is extremely harmful to the body.

To sum up, snoring is often not caused by itself, but passive and resistant sleep feedback information produced by the external environment to sleepers. Long-term snoring has become a disease, and it is hoped that snorers can keep a quiet sleeping environment as much as possible to improve the snoring situation. Living with people who snore, I also hope to be considerate of others, improve my own quality, actively reduce noise and not affect others' rest.

When does snoring mean that the problem is serious?

Only in rare cases will snoring indicate that the problem is serious. If you snore loudly with occasional apnea, you will wake up frequently at night, then you may have sleep apnea syndrome. Ask your partner or family about the specific symptoms of this disorder.

Sleep apnea is an apnea that occurs periodically when you fall asleep. These breathing interruptions may last 10 seconds or longer, and occur when your soft palate, uvula, tongue and tonsils are relaxed while you are asleep. This is the same as normal snoring, but with apnea syndrome, the airway stenosis is more obvious, so that the airway is closed. When your breathing stops, cut off the oxygen flowing into your body, and the clearance rate of carbon dioxide (CO2) in your blood will decrease. Your brain will detect the increase of carbon dioxide concentration and temporarily wake you up, open your airway again and resume breathing. This process can be repeated several times while sleeping at night. Proper sleep becomes impossible, leading to serious fatigue and decreased quality of life.

Adult sleep apnea will increase the risk of serious health problems, such as heart failure, because it deprives patients of enough oxygen and makes the workload of the heart heavier than normal.

Surgical treatment:

Changing lifestyle should be the first step to treat snoring, but these measures are not always effective. If this is the case, you may want to consider a surgical method called laser-assisted uvulopharyngoplasty (LAUP). This relatively new operation can stop or reduce most people's snoring.

LAUP uses a small hand-held laser instrument to remove redundant tissue from the soft palate and uvula. This operation can make your airway more spacious, so the vibration will be reduced. The operation was performed under local anesthesia and took 30 minutes. Depending on the severity of your snoring, you may need more than one operation-some people need 5-6 operations to improve their snoring symptoms. If multiple treatments are needed, the interval between operations may take 4-6 weeks. Generally speaking, this operation has no serious side effects, and you can continue your routine activities immediately after the operation.

Some people will have a sore throat for a week or so. In rare cases, laser surgery may improve or lower your tone of voice. You should consult your doctor carefully before you decide to undergo laser surgery.

There are several surgical methods to treat sleep apnea, depending on the cause:

If sleep apnea is caused by jaw deformity, surgery can be performed to correct this deformity (usually lengthening the mandible). This is feasible for most people.

If the cause of sleep apnea is unknown and not life-threatening, an operation called uvulopalatopharyngoplasty (UPPP) can be performed, which reconstructs and tightens the throat tissue under general anesthesia. However, the success rate of this operation is only 30-50%, which may affect the ability to receive CPAP treatment in the future.

If your sleep apnea is caused by enlargement of tonsils and/or adenoids, it can be solved by a simple operation called tonsillectomy or adenoidectomy.

Treatment of snoring:

5- 10 Capsules of Zanthoxylum bungeanum, soak a glass of water before going to bed, and take it after the water cools (Zanthoxylum bungeanum refuses to accept it) for 5 days, which can treat snoring.

As long as you dilute 3 ~ 4 drops of mouthwash with warm water before going to bed, you can make snoring weaken and stop. This mouthwash contains a kind of resin oil, which has the special effect of stopping snoring. It can improve the blood supply of the throat mucosa, make the throat mucosa in a state of sufficient blood supply, and make the soft palate and uvula not vibrate due to relaxation, and the snoring will stop.

Various treatments for snoring:

If you want to cure snoring well, you can use the following three clinically proven effective methods to treat snoring: snorer (also known as mandibular advancement device), ventilator and surgery, all of which are targeted. For example, the mandibular advancement snorer has a significant effect on simple snoring and mild to moderate sleep apnea syndrome, and can only control snoring and relieve breath holding for severe sleep apnea syndrome. Foreign snorers are generally memory snorers, which are flexible and more comfortable and convenient to use. In addition, it should be noted that the nose clip called snorer has little effect on snoring, which is completely different from snorer.

It has been more than ten years to treat sleep apnea syndrome with ventilator at home and abroad. Ventilator has the best effect on moderate and severe sleep apnea syndrome. The general price of imported ventilators is around 10,000 yuan.

Surgical treatment of snoring and obstructive apnea syndrome caused by obesity is also effective, but it is more painful, expensive and has a high recurrence rate. The recurrence time varies from several months to several years, and there is still snoring after recurrence.

Moreover, snoring is mainly the result of soft tissue relaxation or upper respiratory tract collapse, and all kinds of drugs or sprays can't change the collapse caused by snoring, let alone all kinds of pillows. Although it can help sleep, it certainly has no effect on treating snoring.

Therefore, it is suggested that snorers must choose suitable products according to their own conditions, so as to receive good results. Don't idealize the hope that it can be completely cured at once!

Prevention and health care of snoring;

Strengthen physical exercise and maintain good living habits.

Avoid alcohol and tobacco hobbies, because smoking will aggravate respiratory symptoms, and drinking will aggravate snoring, nocturnal respiratory disorders and hypoxemia. Especially drinking before going to bed.

For obese people, we should actively lose weight and strengthen the collection and arrangement of sports medicine education network. Our experience is to lose more than 5%- 10%.

Snoring patients often have low blood oxygen content, so they are often accompanied by high blood pressure, arrhythmia, increased blood viscosity and increased heart burden, which may easily lead to cardiovascular and cerebrovascular diseases. So pay attention to blood pressure monitoring and take antihypertensive drugs on time.

It is forbidden to take sedative and hypnotic drugs before going to bed, so as not to aggravate the inhibition of respiratory center regulation. Collection and arrangement of medical education network

Take the lateral position, especially the right sleeping position, to avoid the tongue, soft palate and uvula falling down after relaxing during sleep, which will aggravate the upper airway obstruction. When sleeping, you can wear a small ball on your back to help you sleep on your side. Postoperative patients should mainly eat soft food, not too hot food. Avoid strenuous activities.
