Gavin Hood Gavin Hood, after graduating from South African Law School, Gavin Hood worked as a short-term actor, and then went to UCLA to study screenwriter and director. After finishing his studies, Hood returned to South Africa to write plays and direct educational films, and won the Artes Prize, which is known as the Emmy Award in South Africa. His work "The Shopkeeper" shined brilliantly at the13rd International Film Festival.
