200 1 was formed by the merger of Suzhou Urban Construction Environmental Protection College of the Ministry of Construction (State Environmental Protection Administration) and Suzhou Railway Teachers College of the Ministry of Railways. Its predecessor was Suzhou Urban Construction College and Suzhou Railway Teachers College, which was founded in 1960. The history of the School of Civil Engineering can be traced back to 1932 Department of Civil Engineering of Changzhou Private Middle School and 1946 Department of Civil Engineering of Suzhou Senior Technical School in Jiangsu Province.
The school currently has 14 teaching units such as School of Architecture and Urban Planning. There are 57 undergraduate majors such as architecture, among which three majors such as urban planning, civil engineering and environmental engineering are national specialties, four majors such as urban planning, civil engineering, environmental engineering and history are Jiangsu province specialties, two majors such as environmental science, mathematics and applied mathematics are Jiangsu province specialties, and five majors such as architecture, civil engineering, engineering management, water supply and drainage engineering and urban planning have passed the professional evaluation of higher education. There are 12 master's programs in first-class disciplines and 55 master's programs in two disciplines.
Six majors, including urban planning, architecture, civil engineering, water supply and drainage engineering, environmental engineering and environmental science, entered the first batch of enrollment in Jiangsu. Two majors, including urban planning and civil engineering, entered the first batch of enrollment in Jiangxi.
