After decades of accumulation, our library has formed a collection system with the characteristics of normal education that matches the school's professional setting and school scale. There are 2.338 million books, including 2.088 million Chinese books and periodicals, 234,000 foreign books and periodicals and more than 65,438+10,000 ancient books.
China books and periodicals have formed a collection system to meet the needs of politics, economy, education, literature, mathematics, physics, computer and other teaching and scientific research. After provincial appraisal, the collections of 10 disciplines have reached the research level, namely: modern history of China, modern and contemporary literature of China, modern Chinese, ancient history of China, philosophy, party history, political economy, scientific socialism, particle physics, operational research and cybernetics. There are 9 105 kinds of ancient books in the collection,11779 volumes, of which 455 are rare books, 351/volume, of which Ming edition 105 kinds,/kloc. The Bibliography of Rare Books of Chinese Ancient Books (Classics Department) contains 20 kinds of rare books in our library, including 2 kinds of classics department, history department and cluster department. Kai He's Annotation of Ancient Zhouyi in Ming Dynasty and Pu Longyuan's Discrimination of Zhouyi in Qing Dynasty are the only two works in China.
The foreign language books collected by Huazhong University and Zhonghua University are well preserved and are still rare reference materials for studying British and American culture and academics in the 1920s-40s. There is a complete copy of Pravda 19 17- 1949 in Russian materials.
Since 1980, the library of China Normal University has purchased a large number of original new books by using the special fund for liberal arts research of the Ministry of Education and the loan from the World Bank. Since 1982, it has become the depository of UNESCO publications. So far, the library has formed a comprehensive collection system, including arts and sciences, which is suitable for the scale and specialty setting of China Normal University.
The library keeps pace with the times. 1989, the self-developed computer circulation management system was put into operation, becoming the first library in Hubei province to realize computer management. 1998, the library website has been opened. In February 2002, the Library's "Campus Literature Network Management and Service System" (ULIS) was completed, and the advanced integrated system covered the main business work of the library. Readers' borrowing and returning books, reading retrieval, librarian's interview, cataloging, book collection and handling library cards have all achieved computerized and networked management. In particular, "online catalogue" enables readers to quickly, accurately and conveniently retrieve the dynamic information of library catalogue and readers' borrowing situation through the Internet. Services such as online reservation, online renewal, online subscription recommendation and online information desk have greatly facilitated readers.
In addition to daily lending services, the library also provides services such as sci-tech novelty retrieval, substitute inspection, interlibrary loan and document delivery, scientific novelty retrieval and new technology training. Since 1998, the sci-tech novelty retrieval team with the library as the core organization in our school has been providing sci-tech novelty retrieval services for the majority of users. Over the years, it has done a lot of work for scientific research, technological progress, economic development and educational innovation in our school and achieved gratifying results.
In recent years, the library has intensified the construction of digital resources, with 5 tons of multimedia resources and 0/.34 million copies of e-books. There are 70 Chinese and foreign language databases, including 26 Chinese databases, 44 foreign language databases and 2 self-built characteristic databases, which basically cover the main disciplines of the school. The electronic periodicals and e-books in the database reflect the latest development of the subject, and are easy to use, which are very popular among teachers and students. In addition to importing databases, the library also started to build its own characteristic databases, and "China Rural Issues Research Literature Database" and "Doctoral and Master's Degree Thesis Database" became the sub-projects of CALIS.
The library of China Normal University has also established extensive foreign exchange relations, not only with more than 90 domestic university libraries, but also with 18 university libraries in the United States, Singapore, Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan and other countries and regions. At the same time, it has established a document delivery relationship with 6 1 universities of "21project".
