Causes of Hunshandake Sandy Land

According to the extensive field investigation and indoor sample analysis of aeolian sandy strata, Hunshandake sandy land was formed at least in the late Tertiary. At that time, under the control of warm and dry subtropical dynamic high pressure and the influence of weak East Asian monsoon, environmental changes among warm and dry desert, semi-arid grassland and Mulin grassland appeared, forming subtropical red monsoon desert deposits. In Quaternary, influenced by the East Asian monsoon and its changes, the environment fluctuated from temperate desert grassland to forest grassland, and a series of fluctuation processes of activation, desert expansion, sand dune fixation and desert contraction appeared, forming temperate yellow monsoon desert deposits.
