Zhangqiu District is a municipal district of Jinan City, Shandong Province, located in the east of Jinan City, between 36 25'-37 09' north latitude and117'-117 35' east longitude. Zhangqiu District is located in mountainous areas, hills and plains, high in the south and low in the north, and the Yellow River flows through the north. Zhangqiu District has a warm temperate and semi-humid continental monsoon climate. Four distinct seasons, rain and heat in the same season.

Zhangqiu District is located in the east of Jinan, the capital of Shandong Province, with a total area of117/kloc-0'-117 east longitude 35'. It borders Licheng District in the west, Zibo in the east, Tai 'an and Laiwu in the south, Zouping in Binzhou in the northeast and Jiyang across the Yellow River in the northwest.

Zhangqiu area belongs to Luxi uplift in the south and Jiyang depression in the north. Zhangqiu District is located at the northern foot of Taiyi Mountain, bordering the North China Plain, starting from Changchengling in the south and facing Changbai Mountain in the east. The terrain slopes from southeast to northwest.

The highest peak is the chicken feet in the south, 924 meters above sea level; The lowest point is in Zhujiawa area of Xinzhai town in the north, with an altitude of15m.

Zhangqiu area belongs to the external cycle of Luxi system, and there are compressional and torsional faults in north-south direction and northwest direction. The vertical dislocation and horizontal lateral displacement of these faults have seriously damaged the continuity of paleosedimentary strata. Especially the Wen Zu fault, with the north-south displacement of 15km, there are obvious differences in topography, geology and groundwater resources on both sides of the fault.

The geological structure is generally monoclinic strata, with massive faults and few folds. Strata strike is 60 NW, dip is 30 NE, and dip angle is 7 ~ 13. The strata in every geological age are well developed. Metamorphic rock, limestone, shale, coal seam, volcanic eruption rock, etc. It is distributed in mountainous areas from south to north, while mudstone is widely distributed in hilly valleys and alluvial plains, with fresh water limestone in the lower part and gravel layer and various soil types in the upper part.
