Where was the new Shaolin Temple filmed?
The new Shaolin Temple, the unknown ancestral home of Zen Buddhism, spent 20 million yuan to build a brand-new Shaolin Temple, which is located in the dense forest at the foot of Shaoshi Mountain in the hinterland of Songshan Mountain, hence the name "Shaolin Temple". Founded in the 19th year of Taihe in the Northern Wei Dynasty (AD 495), it originated from Emperor Xiaowen of the Northern Wei Dynasty and was built to accommodate the Indian monk Bhattara. Later, bodhidharma, an Indian monk, crossed the river to Songshan, where he practiced Zen for nine years opposite Wurufeng Cave. Shaolin Temple, also known as the ancestral home of Zen, has a history of 1500 years. In the early Tang Dynasty, thirteen stick monks rescued Li Shimin, which was highly valued by the Tang Dynasty, and then developed rapidly, gaining the reputation of "the first brake in the world". The main building of Shaolin Temple is often in the hospital. It is a place where abbots and deacons of monasteries conduct Buddhist activities and live, also known as "Shaolin Temple". He is often hospitalized and built on a mountain. The central axis of the building consists of seven entrances: the mountain gate, the Heavenly King Hall, the Mahatma Hall, the Sutra Pavilion, the abbot's room, the Dharma Pavilion and the Thousand Buddhas Hall. There are six ancestral halls on both sides, Kinnara Hall, East-West Zen Hall, Earth Treasure Hall and White House. In the past 20 years, Shaolin Temple in Songshan Mountain has sprung up suddenly because of the film Shaolin Temple, becoming one of the main tourist attractions in Henan Province and the economic pillar of Dengfeng City. In the film "New Shaolin Temple", the whole building complex of Shaolin Temple is also reproduced on the screen one by one. It is reported that the crew of "New Shaolin Temple" spent nearly 20 million yuan to build a brand-new Shaolin Temple in four months. Director Chen Musheng led production designer Chung-Man Hai to visit more than 30 ancient temples. Due to the weather, geographical location, the repair degree of the temple itself and the sincerity of paying homage, Chen Musheng, who is strict with movies, finally decided to build a new "Shaolin Temple" with a cost of 20 million yuan in Fangyan Scenic Area in Zhejiang. The "New Shaolin Temple" consists of three main halls, namely, the Mountain Gate, the Heavenly King Hall and the Ursa Major Hall, and strives to be consistent with the Songshan Shaolin Temple in every place. Besides the setting of big scenes, Chung-Man Hai, the artistic director, also pays great attention to details. The art department of the film crew spent several months perfectly shaping the shape of the giant Buddha, which is 9.9 meters high and weighs nearly 10 ton. It is reported that the whole Buddha statue was assembled by half a hundred workers, which took two weeks.
