Zengcheng has a long history. Jianxian County was established in the sixth year of Jian 'an in the Eastern Han Dynasty (AD 20 1 year), belonging to Nanhai County. Nanhai county used to administer 6 counties, new counties and zengshi, so it was called Zengcheng, with a history of 1800 years. 1993, the county was withdrawn and the city was established.
